✨ YogaSpace Yorkshire Retreat ✨

I’m often asked ‘what happens on a retreat weekend?’ But answering is always a challenge as every retreat is so varied, I can’t slot it into a category that encompasses all.

The combination of gathering a different group of retreat attendees, the teacher, the cook, any therapists, the varied schedule of activities, all this creates a unique and transformative experience for individuals. Some choose to arrive with their mother, sister, partner, friend to share the weekend and make memories.

A retreat weekend updates our human software. We oxygenate blood, stretch and relax muscles, our body enjoys sound healing vibration, our still moments feed a clarity of mind. There is often renewed vision and purpose as we find our tribe, make new friends, share interesting life stories and support each other.

And to achieve the ‘renewed you’ we eat wholesome food together, practice yoga, sleep in beautiful rooms, walk in fresh country air, enjoy fire bowls and allow ourselves space from the life that often puts us on a treadmill of ‘I must do.’

What happens? Brilliance happens to you. We love seeing you all leave with a fresher brighter smile than the day you arrived.

🍂 September 🍂

September is a 9 month and is the number of completion (9 has 8 numbers before it) and - if we think about completions/endings we must too consider beginnings. September is the UK traditional start of the ‘learning year’ and I have arrived at the age where I have experienced so many Septembers, this sensation of ‘what aspect of my life can I support with a new practice, course, readings, or lcoation appears to rise up in my psyche each year without fail.

At the start of every yoga year at YSY I am encouraged by the new sign ups from those wishing to explore a yoga journey for the very first time. They say everything happens in God’s timing and if you are in your sixth or seventh or onward decade, it is never too late. There’s a saying in Kundalini yoga ‘When the time is right, start, and the pressure will be off.’
Nothing is as energy-draining as the ruminating/thinking about doing something. The doing of something is how energy moves. Not the theory.

If you are interested in what lies within you, yoga practice can answer this - for yoga is more than movements and twists and shapes. It is about exploring the physical body as an instrument. Our bodies are vibrational instruments, sensitive to sound, light, heat, and everything we pick up, via our hair, skin and even our nails. This human body is an instrument that must be played (lived in) IN TUNE, which is about bringing us into balance so that we are a harmonious individual, whilst living here in the ochestra of life.
Come and explore your vibrational aspect, come and tune into your body and into your life with the new season of yoga classes. This Autumn we will explore strength and purification. We will increase our capacity and calibre to take winter on with ease and grace.

🪑 Chair Yoga 🪑

Chair yoga is amazing! There is so much one can do that offers the same benefits as a mat practice. So if attending a mat practice yoga class feels unsuitable for you (and is preventing you exploring yogic tools) this class is for you.

In all humans whatever our age, our whole body from torso, hips, lungs, legs, and arms, need to stay as flexible and supported by movement, so that we keep the engine of our physical body running whilst we are alive.
Our human body has a lymphatic system but this needs a pump; we must work this system of drainage and purification ourselves if we are to release waste from the body. Glands are the guardians of our health and chair yoga is as effective. Don’t underestimate its power.

Chair yoga has physical postures and breathwork, mindfulness and sound relaxation and some standing postures done with the support of a chair.

The class will be crafted to offer a complete practice and - by attending regularly you are creating a community. 2025 is the year of 9 - of the many, of community.
September is a 9 month. There is a free intro session at YSY on Thursday 11th September at 11 am where Emma will explain how this class is beneficial and we might try some postures together.

Every chair yoga can become a masterclass in yourself. All we need is your body, here, with the chair. September is month of completion, and completions bring new starts.
Classes will start in October on Tuesdays at 11 am.

🎓 Back to School 🎓

Classes have started again this week, and I get inspired to choose themes and teachings that will nourish you towards the Equinox and on towards the longer nights.

This Autumn I’ll be bringing somatic kundalini practices into some of my classes. It feels as if somatic yoga is the new yogic buzz-word but Kundalini yoga has always been the ‘go-to’ yoga for therapists and healers. Why? Because it uses posture and breath, meditations and mudras that help you fast-track yourself ‘into the body glove’ so emotional healing can take place.

We can’t think ourselves out of some of our deepest feelings. We must use the body as the lens of understanding. The physical body was given to us for self-healing, it is how we exist here, it is an energy body. Energy can never be destroyed, it can only be transformed, transmuted.
We must live in our body and for some of us this is where we become absent residents.

Somatic kundalini is a very feminine form yoga where we don’t work in lines but in the shapes of nature; waves, spirals, and we might work with visualisation. The greatest somatic posture of all is Sufi grind. This posture allows you to connect with the earth, connect with the base of the body, and create your own circle how you wish to create it, and create the energy space around your body.

Come and explore my classes, they are always varied, always themed, always with dharma and always offered to you with dedication to be of service for your body and soul.

Not all spaces are created equal.

Patrick Brompton Hall, Yorkshire. is more than a house – it’s a sanctuary.
Nestled in the foothills of the North Yorkshire Dales, it holds stories in its stones, stillness in its gardens, and possibility in its dedicated yoga studio.

Every practice here is shaped by the land itself.
The breath feels deeper.
The silence feels softer.
The body remembers its own rhythm.

It’s not just a class.
It’s the meeting of practice, place, and presence.

A weekend of letting go re-writes 9 months of holding on.

As autumn ripples across the North Yorkshire Dales—from bronze to ochre and deep red—this is your invitation to pause, breathe, and remember who you are.

Join us in the Yorkshire Dales for a weekend retreat that will invigorate the senses, connect you back to your true self and nourish your every cell.

When: 17–19 October 2025 - We gather mid-Friday as the door opens at 4 pm, and leave renewed on Sunday at 2 pm.
Where: Patrick Brompton Hall, Yorkshire.- a magical and tranquil space.

This is a yoga and walking retreat - a marriage of two great contemplative practices. Walking enriches the soul, our cells oxygenate in the fresh air and our feet and legs take us forward in life. Yoga nourishes our body with both oxygenation and a slower deep nervous system reset. Add to that the nourishing meals served by our guest holistic healer and cook and you have a full recipe for a true Autumnal reset. 🍂

Three days to ground, restore, and recharge through Kundalini yoga, meditations, sound baths, and soulful walks.

Your autumn reset begins here. 🍁 💚

We don’t just raise the legs… we raise our energy, our courage, our voice.

Leg raisers are more than movement. The legs are our fast track to healing the lower back. Arms heal the upper back.

Our leg raisers also build the energetic power of the navel – the centre that fuels our courage, our projects, and our ability to be out there with focus and strength. The navel is the gateway to the heart. Strong at the navel, we protect the heart… and we greet life from that place first, before the eyes, before the words.

Bookings are now open for regular classes and more:
🌞 September Mondays – Regular Kundalini classes (re-centre, re-align, re-group)
🎶 19th Sept – Gong + Sound Bath (a one-night sound journey into deep rest and renewal)
🍂 October Tuesdays – Somatic Yoga (90 mins of movement and kriya to quiet the mind, dissolve energy blocks, and rekindle joy and creativity)
✨ Plus, a retreat in October!
