I always say you should be going for a 💩 as many times as you have meals (and for me that’s 2-3!)

But even then, it doesn’t always mean you’re fully emptying.

You can still have old, compacted waste sitting higher up in the colon that isn’t shifting with regular bowel movements.

That’s why someone like me can p**p every day, and still have all of that come out during a colonic!

🍕 Avoid processed foods for 24hrs
Your gut has just been cleared, this is the time to nourish it. Don’t overload it!

🙅🏻‍♀️ No dairy, gluten, wheat, oats, refined sugar or peanuts
These foods can be inflammatory and harder to digest, especially right after a treatment when the bowel is more sensitive.

🚰 Drink plenty of water
After a colonic you’re susceptible to dehydration. Water helps your body rebalance and helps you skip the headaches!

🏋🏻 Skip the gym (especially squats 😅)

😭 Back pain

A little BTS moment from clinic 👀

Usually during a colonic you’ll see me do the hold and release method where we allow water in, hold briefly, then release.

With this client, I had to stop doing that.

Her body had already gone into peristalsis mode (our body’s natural reflex that pushes waste through the large intestine).

Once that reflex kicks in, the bowel starts releasing on its own.

It’s actually a great sign, because it means the bowel is responsive and doing what it’s meant to do when given the right support.

What was wild though was how much was coming out!! 👀 ESPECIALLY because she told us she poos every single day.

And that’s something people don’t always realise: going daily doesn’t always mean you’re fully empty. Waste can still sit in pockets of the large intestine and build up over time.

Signs you may need lymphatic drainage (that you can check yourself at home!)

• Neck & clavicles: if you have any puffiness, tenderness or a heavy feeling
