Public Consultation – Aligning policies across BLMK

Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Group (BLMK CCG) is undertaking a public consultation asking residents to share their views on proposed changes to three of its policies.

We would kindly like to remind all patients visiting London Road and Elstow Surgeries to kindly wear facemasks. This is to protect our team and other vulnerable patients that maybe sharing the surgery with you. If a member of our team catches Covid they are required to isolate and this impacts the service for all patients and present a risk to everyone. Thank you for your kind understanding and support.

We have received an email from Pathology at Bedford Hospital, it requests that we cease routine blood testing due to a global shortage of consumables used to collect blood samples.

We want to thank our patients and local community for working with us throughout the pandemic. Your continued support and positive feedback has been much appreciated.

We recognise that restrictions are being lifted and the rules around the wearing of face masks is changing.

Across our 2 sites, London Road and Elstow we see many patients face to face in the course of the day. As a healthcare setting, we need your help to remain open and to protect our sick and vulnerable patients at increased risk of catching covid.

We are aware that; many patients have not received their covid vaccination, cases are rising locally, the virus is spreading from contagious people with no symptoms, also newer virus variants appear more transmissible than earlier covid strains.

For this reason, patients will need to continue when entering one of our buildings to wear a face mask, use the hand sanitiser provided and maintain social distancing.

Our team will continue to wear PPE.

For the time being, we will also be continuing with a telephone triage as this is giving patients increased access to the surgery. If you need to be seen face to face a clinician will make arrangements for this when they speak to you.
