the scale of death and fear in India feels distant from the UK. It shouldn’t. Just as the effects of environmental damage shouldn’t feel distant either. They already affect us directly. These aren’t merely other people’s problems. Article in the BMJ

In people with myofascial pain syndrome (MPS), sensitive spots are known as trigger points.

It is reported that 90% of the traditional acupuncture points correspond with trigger points.

It’s important that all trigger points identified are treated.

Trigger points are classified as:

Active: These points are tender and painful when palpated and they can create local and referred muscular pain.

Latent: these points o not cause pain when palpated and can lay dormant for many years.

Secondary: a painful point in the muscle that becomes active when you stress another muscle.

Satellite: a painful spot that becomes active because it’s located near another trigger point.

Acupuncture is an excellent treatment for Myofascial Trigger Points.

Unconscious bias may stem from the health care professionals experience of certain conditions, particularly if it is recent.

With the Covid-19 pandemic currently at the forefront of everyone’s mind, this can easily be done
Types of unconscious bias in clinical medicine

Anchoring bias
A failure to adjust initial prognosis on the basis of later information, or a failure to modify initial diagnoses because of new events.

Availability bias
Where diagnosis and treatment are guided by recent information you have had access to or recent events you have been exposed to.

Confirmation bias
The tendency to look for confirming evidence to support a diagnosis rather than look for disconfirming evidence to refute it—despite the latter often being more persuasive and definitive.
