Wonderwall played at your funeral, yes or no?

"When I am dead, my dearest"

When I am dead, my dearest,
Sing no sad songs for me;
Plant thou no roses at my head,
Nor shady cypress tree:
Be the green grass above me
With showers and dewdrops wet;
And if thou wilt, remember,
And if thou wilt, forget.

I shall not see the shadows,
I shall not feel the rain;
I shall not hear the nightingale
Sing on, as if in pain:
And dreaming through the twilight
That doth not rise nor set,
Haply I may remember,
And haply may forget.

Janet's family decided to add a Mallard engine on to her order of service and condolence book as a way for her late husband to be included in the service as he was a train driver 🚂

Wildflower seeds and a mixture of pins were also attached to the order of services for loved ones to take home as a keepsake

Thank you to Samantha from Mexborough Funeralcare for organising such a special tribute 💙

The uniform that a funeral director wears might feel like an anachronism in the modern day - a uniform from a bygone age: top hat, tailcoat, cravat and cane.

But a funeral director's uniform is important as a mark of respect to the person whose funeral we are conducting. Traditionally, a top hat, tailcoat and cravat is referred to as Morning Dress, and would be considered appropriate for the most formal events that take place during the day - more grand and formal than a regular suit or a black tie outfit. Even though morning dress is rare nowadays, we wear it to show respect to the life of the person whose funeral we're honoured to conduct, and to recognise the importance of the event and the dignity of the funeral.

End of life care is incredibly tough, especially for young carers. This we’re thinking of young carers who support others through the hardest times. These small soothing things are here to offer a little comfort when it’s needed most ⬇️

Something Soft 🧸
- A hoodie that still smells like them or a teddy to keep you grounded.

A Soundtrack for Stillness 🎶
- For when you need a moment to pause or catch your breath.

A Tiny Escape 📚
- A favourite book or game. Just a few minutes away can help you come back stronger.

A Scent That Grounds You 🕯️
- Their shampoo, a candle or essential oil. Let a familiar smell calm your body and mind.

If you’re a young carer or know one, we’d love to know what helped you or what you’d recommend to others. Your voice matters 💙
