For we encourage those eligible between the ages of 25 and 64 to attend regular cervical screening appointments when invited.

Cervical screening is one of the best ways to protect yourself from cervical cancer as it checks a sample of cells from your cervix for high risk types of human papillomavirus (PHV) which can cause abnormal change to the cells in your cervix.

For more information visit https://www.nhs.uk/tests-and-treatments/cervical-screening/

Did you know there are many different types of dementia?

Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia and dementia with Lewy bodies are four of the most common forms of dementia, and they can all affect people differently.

This is our guide to a few of the most common symptoms for each illness.

Dementia looks different for everyone, so a person’s symptoms may not look exactly as they are described here.

However by knowing the signs, we can make sure that we don’t brush off or ignore some of these lesser-known symptoms, to help everyone with dementia get a crucial early diagnosis.

Save this post for later, and if you’d like more info visit our website or give our Dementia Support Line a call on 0333 150 3456.

Data shows flu cases have decreased, however it is important that we continue our efforts to reduce viral transmission.

You can help stop the spread by:
• Washing hands regularly
• Catching coughs and sneezes in a tissue
• If eligible get your free vaccine

Further details on the winter vaccination programme can be found at www.nidirect.gov.uk/wintervaccines

If you are coming to the Enhanced Service Centre location today, there is a problem with the heating and the building is quite cold.

Please wrap up warm, as while we are moving mobile heaters in, they will not warm the large waiting area.

We are in contact with the building owners to find out how long this will take to resolve, but if there is not a prompt fix we may need to move some appointments to our other sites (and we will let you know if we have to do that). Please accept our apologies for this situation.

We are seeing a growing number of winter viruses in the community and our hospitals.

Rajeev, Clinical Director for Acute Medicine, said: “To help keep everyone safe, please do not visit patients on our wards if you have a runny nose, sore throat, cough, high temperature, chills, aching muscles, extreme tiredness, a headache or if you’re sneezing.

“By staying at home, you can help us to stop the spread of infection and help to keep our patients and staff safe. Thank you for your understanding.”
