Discussing various bowel diseases with a patient this weekend, and we were talking around the question of whether eating high fibre was healthy if you suffer with, for example, diverticulitis. Serendipitously, Dr Karan makes mention of the very same in this week’s blog. Good news if you are trying to improve your fibre intake, to maintain a healthy gut biome.

A useful explanation of meniscal damage in our knees, from my colleague at Nene Valley Osteopathy

Calling all knee pain sufferers!

What’s this funny C shape all about then? This is half of a meniscus, the fibrous cartilage within your knee that helps keep the 2 bones together and creates a cushion.

If you’ve ever had a tear to the meniscus, you’ll know how painful they are. But did you know there are several different ways that the cartilage can be torn?

The course of treatment depends on how the cartilage is torn, but most will avoid surgery for it.

We are skilled at dealing with knees, and whilst they can be pesky if left untreated, our treatments are tailored to your individual needs and therefore can help you feel better, quicker!

Are you a mature driver who relies on being able to drive and lives in Northamptonshire? Then this FREE roadshow is for you!

Driving is an important part of our everyday life, and the Northamptonshire Safer Roads Alliance (NSRA) is keen to help keep mature drivers to drive safer for longer.

Our driving ability to drive changes over time for varied reasons, especially as we get older. It is important that we recognise whether and how our driving is changing so we can stay safe and protect both ourselves and those around us.

The NSRA’s Mature Driver Roadshow is aimed at drivers aged 60+ and will cover all distinct aspects of driving. There will be a short talk and then time to meet informally with our stand holders.

Free advice will be available on car adaptions, eyesight, how your prescription medications may affect you, and much more. There will also be FREE mature driver assessment available to book, delivered by IAM RoadSmart.

If, like me, your allergy symptoms have started already, you can blame tree pollen instead of the more wide-spread grass pollen allergy that is summer hay fever. The good news (😫) is that 2025 is predicted to be a bad year for tree pollen allergy, exacerbated in the past few days by the warmer weather. Achoo!

Itchy eyes? Sore throat? Tree pollen may be to blame as experts predict it will be an above-average season.
