We’re Recruiting – Ambulance Care Attendants (ACA) 🚑

Ambulance Response Services Ltd are expanding our Non-Emergency Patient Transport team based in Thurleigh, Bedford.

You won’t get rich doing this job – but you will go home knowing you helped someone who genuinely needed you. Every shift makes a real difference to patients who are elderly, unwell, or vulnerable, and that’s what this role is about.

What the role involves:
• Transporting patients safely to and from hospital and healthcare settings
• Supporting and reassuring patients during their journey
• Working as part of a professional, supportive crew
• Completing vehicle checks and paperwork
• Maintaining high standards of care and professionalism

What we’re looking for:
• People who care about others and take pride in doing a job properly
• Full UK manual driving licence (held for at least 3 years)
• Aged 21+ (insurance requirement)
• No more than 6 points on your licence
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Willingness to work shifts (days, nights and weekends)

What we offer:
• £22,913 to £30,551 per year
• Shift work (average 36–48 hours per week)

Bedford Hospital is currently experiencing exceptionally high demand, following a high increase in admissions due to respiratory illnesses, including flu.

During this period, ward visiting will be restricted in some areas. We ask that you contact the ward before attending, and that all visitors wear masks, which are available on the ward.

We are doing all we can to minimise any impact of these pressures on planned care. Patients with appointments at the hospital should continue to attend, unless told otherwise.

Please only attend the Emergency Department if you require urgent and emergency care. Staff continue to work extremely hard to ensure all patients safely receive the care they need, but please be aware there may be extended waiting times.

If you have a minor illness/injury, please consider whether you can access the care you need via your GP, a pharmacist, by using NHS 111 online or via the NHS App.

🚑 Helping Deliver Medical Aid Where It’s Needed Most

At ARSL, we believe everyone deserves access to emergency medical care.

We’ve been quietly supporting a local humanitarian effort that’s delivering ambulances and life-saving medical supplies to crisis-affected areas. As part of this, we’ve donated a significant volume of medical equipment and stock — items that, while no longer in use here in the UK, remain essential and highly valuable abroad.

This is a community-led, medically focused project, and while we remain strictly neutral and apolitical, we’re proud to help ensure resources are not wasted when they could save lives.

The team behind this initiative has already sent over 30 tonnes of aid and multiple ambulances, and is now raising funds for their next delivery.

The Team are Birmingham City University - The Pavilion , providing medical cover for all attending the .2024 working with UK Ultimate and a fantastic complement of Staff both Operations and Medical. The onsite Medical Team are able to provide a wide range of medical support ranging from first aid, plasters and ice to Consultant led care with on site bloods and diagnostics. Working along side a large team of Sports Therapists, Physiotherapists and Osteopaths. Great Multi Disciplinary Team working together
