Water is a healthy choice to stay hydrated.
You should be drinking 6-8 cups of fluid a day but this differs from person to person as we are all different.

Water is great for helping our brains to function as they should. On the flip side, not getting enough water can lead to tiredness, brain fog, and generally feeling lower. In colder months we often forget to drink enough.

This week we are looking at Mindfulness.

Mindfulness is about living more in the present moment, appreciating the here and now, and not dwelling too much on the past or future.

While we have some control over the present, we cannot go back and change things that have already happened. We also have less control over future events than we might think.

This means we can spend a lot of energy worrying when it could be more beneficial to focus on and enjoy what is happening right now.

This can help us to feel calmer, reduce stress or anxiety, sleep better and might help us cope better with difficult situations.

Here we have listed some practices for you to try and re-connect with the present moment.

With September almost over it has been a busy month for many especially with return to school/collage/university. We wanted to remind you of ways to avoid burn out as prevention is key.

Getting organised- Having a to-do list, updating your calendar, writing notes down can help.

Do something fun - At the end of a week what do you like to do, go for a walk, meet a friend for coffee or read a book. Possibilities are endless.

Schedule Relaxation - Ensure you have time in your day to wind down. Set timers for social media so you aren't tempted to doom scroll for hours, have a bath, make a hot drink.

Reward yourself - Completed a task, folded away laundry, washed the dishes, reward yourself for the little things to help motivate yourself.

Find a support system - Friends, family and pets are great to talk to but what if you need something more? We have a tailord preventing burnout webinar with the link below.

It is estimated that there are currently more than 700 000 su***des per year worldwide, and we know that each su***de profoundly affects many more people.

Su***de touches all demographics and cultures, and its impact is devastating for those left behind; family and friends. Therefore, it's crucial that we continually engage in learning and discussion around this sensitive subject.

This day provides us an opportunity to remember those we've lost, to reflect on our practices, and to educate ourselves and our communities on preventing su***de.

The theme this year is 'Creating Hope Through Action'.
This theme serves as a powerful call to action and reminder that there is an alternative to su***de and that through our actions we can encourage hope and strengthen prevention.

By creating hope through action, we can signal to people experiencing suicidal thoughts that there is hope and that we care and want to support them. It also suggests that our actions, no matter how big or small, may provide hope to those who are struggling.

Lastly, it serves as a reminder that su***de prevention is a public health priority and urgent action is required to make sure su***de mortality rates are reduced.

Studies have shown that sleep deficiency changes activity in some parts of the brain. If you're sleep deficient, you may have trouble making decisions, solving problems, controlling your emotions and behaviour. Sleep deficiency has also been linked to depression, su***de, and risk-taking behaviour.

If you are struggling with sleep and insomnia, we at Bedfordshire Talking Therapies have clinicians trained in these areas specifically!
We also provide a pre-recorded webinar on improving sleep which you can access in your own time, by your own means. The link to this is:
