The World Health Organization Western Pacific Region was certified as polio-free in 2000. To commemorate the 25th anniversary of this achievement, we invited Dr. Shigeru Omi, who led WHO’s polio eradication efforts in the region from start to finish, to reflect on the story behind that victory.

On Saturday 12 April, the Rotary Club of Nuneaton brought Easter spirit to the local community with their annual Easter Hamper Raffle, held at the Horeston Grange Co-Operative.

Rotarians turned out in full force throughout the day, enthusiastically selling raffle tickets and engaging with shoppers in support of local charitable causes. Adding a touch of festive fun, the Easter Bunny made two special appearances, delighting children and adults alike and bringing smiles to many faces.

The raffle draw took place that evening, and two lucky local residents were delighted to receive their Easter hampers just in time for the Easter holiday.

Proceeds from the raffle will benefit several important causes, including the local foodbank, the earthquake appeal, and a range of other Rotary-supported charities.

The Rotary Club extends its sincere thanks to the management and staff of the Horeston Grange Co-Operative, not only for generously hosting the event but also for sponsoring and supplying the Easter hampers featured in the raffle.

“We're incredibly grateful for the support of the Co-Operative and the warm response from the local community,” said a spokesperson from the Rotary Club. “Events like this are a wonderful way to bring people together while raising funds for good causes.”

Thank you to all that came out tonight to support Santa and the Rotary Sleigh.
We were only able to do 70% of the route due to the heavy rain. We apologise that we were not able to get to Heritage fields tonight.

Rotary Club of Nuneaton Brings Festive Cheer with Santa's Local Visits

The Rotary Club of Nuneaton was delighted to spread holiday cheer at the Atherstone Tesco Store on Saturday, 7th December 2024. This marked the first of three festive events planned to bring Santa to the community, in support of Rotary Charities.

Santa's visit to Tesco was a tremendous success, with members of the club receiving a warm welcome and generous donations from shoppers. The funds collected will go towards supporting various charitable initiatives spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Nuneaton.

Building on the success of this event, the Rotary Club is excited to announce two additional visits from Santa to local neighborhoods:

- **Tuesday, 17th December:** Santa and his sleigh will make their way through the Longshoot estate off Eastboro Way, starting at Woolpack Drive.

- **Wednesday, 18th December:** The festivities will continue with visits to Eaton Place and Heritage Fields Estates, located off Higham Lane.

These events are designed to bring the magic of Christmas directly to the community, while also providing an opportunity for residents to support the Rotary Club's charitable work.

The Rotary Club extends its gratitude to everyone who has contributed so far and looks forward to seeing many more smiling faces during the upcoming visits. Let's make this holiday season one to remember while supporting meaningful causes together.
