I’m often asked what type or style of yoga I teach, and it’s never an easy one to answer.
Over the years my offerings have moved quite far from what we might think of as a traditional yoga class. Rather than teaching perfect yoga poses, I guide breath, body and self awareness. I invite exploration, sensing and feeling - listening inward, noticing what feels good and practicing what we need. I encourage self-enquiry, meeting ourselves where we are, being present, and befriending our emotions. Always with gentle compassion.
Our practice is meaningful and all about connection – getting to know ourselves more deeply, understanding what we carry in our bodies and finding ways to release what feels stuck.
Our pace is often slow and this is deeply intentional. Slow doesn’t mean easy. Slow can be strong, powerful, and deeply moving. Sometimes it’s dance-like; other times it’s soft and still.
You won’t see me offering ‘yoga challenges’ or ‘yoga boot camps’ but I do love offering space to retreat, and opportunities to re-connect.
My initial training was in Vinyasa Yoga (a flowing, breath-led practice), which I still love and share. But my curiosity has taken me much further. In the last 12 years I have delved deeper into Meditation and Breathwork, learned more about the wisdom of Ayurveda, and studied the benefits of Somatic Movements. More recently I explored the subtle rhythms of Craniosacral practice, and discovered Qi Gong, self-massage and tapping techniques. I enjoy weaving these influences into my classes, adding little sprinkles of whatever feels supportive and nurturing to our practice.
I love sharing my journey of exploring and growing, and hope you’ll join me some time!
