We’re at that time where mornings are getting brighter and evenings are getting longer and I’m sure most of you, like me, are delighted! However, those light nights and sunshine mornings can play havoc with our little ones sleep.

Now is the time to make sure bedrooms are blackout dark - and I mean blackout! Darker room = better sleep. Fully frame fitted blackout blinds are amazing and do the perfect job, but they can be really costly. The alternative is to buy some good quality blackout fabric and cut it to the size of your window frame. Attach it using heavy duty velcro, so that it can be removed easily when you do want to let light in.

This one simple little thing can make such a huge difference, don’t let the light mornings sneak up on you. Get in touch if you’d like to know more or have any questions. When we have the bedrooms blacked out, we can get back to looking forward to the summer nights!

Sleep deprived parents, I am always in awe of you and how you keep on going through it all. I’ve been through the newborn sleep deprivation, the sleep regressions, the spells of sickness but I had forgotten. I’d forgotten what it’s like to be properly exhausted and still have to show up the next day. Alex has broken his leg and we had 9 nights in hospital. He’s home now in a full hip spica cast and has gone from being the most contented sleeper to having fairly severe anxiety and needing to hold mum or dads hand through the night. Anni is teething and had her booster vaccines and all the joys that come along with those. We are tired, we are sore, I am starting to fray.

The good in all this is that it will pass. Anni will be right as rain in a few days. Alex will settle into his temporary new normal and in 6 weeks, his cast will be off. This has refuelled my fire for helping sleep deprived families and reminded me why the service that I can offer is necessary and so beneficial to families. I am SO ready to get to work with all the amazing families that I have booked in and create some positive change for you. Brighter days are coming 💫

Would you look at this - even the sleepiest of little sleepyheads sometimes have hard nights! This one has been up the past few nights as we’ve been trialling her on the milk ladder (Anni has cows milk protein allergy).

These wake ups and disrupted nights can feel really lonely and oh so long. Remember you’re never alone, there will always be another parent up with their little one at the same time, probably not too far away. The morning always comes around and these long nights won’t last forever!

If you’re finding that you have more disrupted nights than settled ones, there is lots of help and support available. I’m always happy to have a chat and see if there are any simple recommendations that might help, even if you don’t want to go all out and into sleep training. There are always little things that can make a difference! Drop me a message any time 💫

Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had a lovely break - a different one this year for sure and I think we’re all glad to ring in 2021 with a little bit of hope on the horizon.

We had a lovely break but I think we’re all ready to get back to our daily routines and back to work! I’ve been trying to plan for the year (as much as I can in the midst of a global pandemic!) and am so excited to see what’s ahead for Little Sleepyheads 💫

New Year is often a time for taking stock, making plans and setting goals. If encouraging better sleep for your little ones is part of your 2021 plan, get in touch and let’s have a chat!

Signing out for 2020! I’m off to take a well deserved break with these two little sleepyheads. They’re as ready for the break as I am and can’t wait to see if Santa delivers the goods!

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me this year. Through what has been a really difficult year for us all, it’s been so lovely to have so much encouragement and support as well as being able to work with some amazing families. It’s been a real privilege.

Onwards and upwards to next year! All messages and emails will be responded to on 4th Jan. Until then - eat, sleep and be merry! 💫

This kid is well on the move now! She really has us all on our toes, into everything and never stops....unless it’s snack time!

A lot of families start sleep training around the time when little ones start to get more mobile. Sometimes we find that we’re just settled into a good bedtime routine, then all of a sudden, they’re able to pull up to standing in their cot! The best thing to do in this case is let them get on with it. They’ll want to explore their new skill and see how they can use it at bedtime, let them do that and it’ll soon get old! They know their routine, they know how to get to sleep, they’ll be able to do it after a quick cruise around the cot. How to stop them pinching their siblings snacks though, I’m not so sure 🤷‍♀️

It’s so lovely seeing everyone getting behind small local businesses at the moment, when we need support more than ever! There’ll be lots of beautiful gifts under trees this year 🎄

Our ‘Guidance for New and Expectant Parents’ package can be purchased as a gift voucher and makes a really great present for some parents to be. Our guide offers advice on how to promote healthy sleep for parents and baby, explains how babies sleep, delves into some myth busting and covers safe sleeping, plus so much more. The package includes our Newborn sleep guide, a 60 minute video call to discuss the guide and any questions you might have, plus email support once baby arrives, should you have any further questions.

Our guide empowers caregivers, helping them to feel prepared and in control over one of the most stressful things about preparing to welcome a baby - losing out on precious sleep!

If you’d like to know more or would like to purchase a voucher, drop me a DM 💫

I’m almost booked up for this year, so this is a last call for anyone who’s asking for sleep for Christmas!

I have space for one Bespoke package and a few Newborn/Parents To Be packages in December. I’ll be taking a little time off for Christmas, then back to it in January!

So if you’d like to be getting 8 hours sleep on Christmas Eve, drop me a line and let’s get that ticked off your list 🤶😴

So I’m gonna be honest - I hate the term “self care”. I’m absolutely 100% here for the sentiment, I just hate that having 10 minutes to yourself to do whatever you want is something to celebrate. That’s an absolute necessity and 10 mins a day is not even hitting the bare minimum!

I remember after I went through sleep training with Alex, he was finally napping in his cot and I had three whole hours in the day to myself. I could do some work, tidy up, prep dinner....or I could nap myself, read a book, have a cuppa. For the first little while, I didn’t know what to do with that time. Now, I don’t know what I’d do without it!

If you could do with a bit of time in your day for a cuppa and a biscuit, I just might be able to help. Drop me a DM and let’s see what we can do! 💫

(Not a but I highly recommend these M&S incredibly chocolatey biscuits. Sorry to any clients who receive a hard copy sleep plan with some chocolate stains....)

What if I told you that an earlier bedtime doesn’t necessarily mean an earlier wake up?

So many families we work with “hold out” on bedtime, in the hope that they’ll get a bit of a later rise in the morning. Unfortunately it doesn’t always work like that! Children are naturally early risers and by keeping them up late, you’re pushing them past their sleepy stage and encouraging a build up of adrenaline - the worst hormone when it comes to sleep! This often leads to disturbed sleep through the night and actually, an earlier wake up.

Bring bedtime forward by a little bit and enjoy that extra half hour of free time in your evenings. Who knows, you might even get your little lie in the next morning too!
