💡RESEARCH SPOTLIGH💡

Impact of Dysmenorrhea on Academic Performance Among Haramaya University Undergraduate Regular Students, Eastern Ethiopia.

This isn't my usual post but I came across this research and thought that it would be good to share 😊

Dysmenorrhea is another term for menstrual cramps or period pain that tends to occur in the lower abdomen of menstruating women 🩸

In this study pain intensity & premenstrual syndrome (PMS) was significantly associated with impact of dysmenorrhoea on academic performance 📚

The various impacts that female students reported on their academic performance included:

•Unable to study for an exam
•Loss of class concentration
•Inability to do homework
•Loss of class participation

This research really highlights the impact of PMS & dysmenorrhea on young women’s education which is sad because so much can be done to help!

Ladies don’t forget how strong you are dealing with this each month! 💪🏼

For those with PMS/PMDD thinking about cooking in their luteal phase when pain and exhaustion hits can be overwhelming to say the least. If this sounds like you then check out this ⬇️

Batch cook your meals, yes I know it may sound like a pain but for me batch cooking my meals before my luteal phase begins is one of my favourite Let me tell you why I am so obsessed 😂

Firstly it means when I get home from work (often spent suffering with brain fog) I don't have to think too much about what I am cooking - the decision has already been made previously and I'm very thankful for that!

Secondly, when abdominal or back pain starts I don't have to 'slave over a hot stove' instead reheating a pre-made meal keeps things quick and simple 🙏🏼

Thirdly, batch cooking enables me to make sure I am getting the nutrients I need at this time for example iron & magnesium rich foods to help prepare my body for menstruation and ease dysmenorrhoea 🥦

I would love to know if anyone else has any additional luteal life hacks drop a comment below or send me a DM 😊
