🤍 Parkinson's disease is a condition in which parts of the brain become progressively damaged over many years.

The main symptoms of Parkinson's disease are:
• involuntary shaking of particular parts of the body (tremor)
• slow movement
• stiff and inflexible muscles

A person with Parkinson's disease can also experience a wide range of other physical and psychological symptoms, these include:
• depression and anxiety
• balance problems (this may increase the chances of a fall)
• loss of sense of smell (anosmia)
• problems sleeping (insomnia)
• memory problems

🤍 See a GP if you're concerned that you may have symptoms of Parkinson's disease.
They'll ask about the problems you're experiencing and may refer you to a specialist for further tests.

🤍 Parkinson disease usually occurs in older people, but younger people can also be affected. Men are affected more often than women.

🤍 The cause of the disease is unknown but people with a family history of the disease have a higher risk. Exposure to air pollution, pesticides and solvents may increase risk.

Bringing a loved one home from the hospital? 🏥

There are some simple steps you can take to support them -

Please help ensure:
💊 They have prescription medicines available
🚰 They have enough to eat and drink
⚠️ There are no trip hazards
🏠 Their house is adequately heated and that they have clean bedding
❤️ They have emotional support
❓They know who to contact if they need help
📱 If they need urgent medical help but aren't sure where to go, they use NHS 111

If you’re not able to care for them, and/or need help to do so, then you have a right to a carer’s assessment to have your needs considered too.

Did you know that your liver performs over 500 essential functions to keep you alive? 😲

As one of the most powerful organs in your body, it deserves our attention—especially this month. January marks Month, a nationwide campaign by the British Liver Trust to raise awareness about liver disease.

Unfortunately, liver disease rates are on the rise in the UK, with 3 major preventable causes: alcohol consumption, obesity and viral hepatitis.

Here are 3 simple actions you can take in 2026 to help protect your liver ⬇️
🍻 Cut back on alcohol by sticking to recommended consumption guidelines
🥗 Fuel your body with a balanced diet and stay active
💉 Know your risks for viral hepatitis and get tested or vaccinated if needed

High blood sugar doesn’t start overnight; it slowly builds through daily habits we often overlook.

Here are some common routines that quietly push sugar levels up:
❌ Skipping breakfast forces your body to release stress hormones that raise blood sugar.
❌ Frequent sugary snacks and drinks, biscuits, pastries, energy drinks, add up faster than you think.
❌ Eating late at night keeps sugar circulating longer because the body slows down.
❌ Sitting for long hours reduces how well your body uses insulin, increasing sugar levels.
❌ Chronic stress triggers hormones that push sugar higher, even without food.
❌ Poor sleep increases cravings and affects sugar control.
❌ Taking too much of “healthy carbs” like rice, bread, swallow, or yam can silently spike your levels.

✅ Small daily changes can make a big difference. Protect your blood sugar, your future self will thank you ❤️
