💛The Great Daffodil Appeal 2026 is fast approaching and many of our supporters have already signed up to don their daffodil hat and tabard to collect for Marie Curie 💛

One of our longstanding hospice volunteers, Peter, recently shared his story on why he is encouraging people to support the Great Daffodil Appeal this year. 🤩

Peter said: “The Great Daffodil Appeal is somewhat iconic and, particularly with this being the 40th anniversary year, I thought there was no better time to get involved.

"Giving a couple of hours to fundraise at a local supermarket or in your local town is an easy way to support such an important cause, and it doesn’t cost a penny.” 💛

As 2025 comes to an end we are also saying a fond farewell to our long‑serving receptionist, Rosalind Colledge 💛

Ros is the first person many people see when coming into the Belfast Hospice, and she has been welcoming visitors for 19 years 🙌.

She has an incredible skill for remembering people and has played a very important part in the Marie Curie team throughout all these years 🌼

Reflecting on her time here, Ros said: ‘It has been an honour to work here and meet so many wonderful people coming to visit friends and relatives at a very difficult time 💛. I will really miss working at the Hospice, but I am grateful for all the friends that I’ve made here, as well as all the people I have met and helped over the years.’

Thank you, Ros, for your dedicated years of service to Marie Curie 🙏🌼. We wish you every happiness in your next chapter✨.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Christmas. 💛✨

We know that today can be a really difficult day for many people. If you need someone to talk to, our Support Line is open from 10am to 2pm on 0800 090 2309.

Today, nurses like Adina, who is working over the Christmas period, continue to provide care, comfort and support for patients across Northern Ireland. Adina said “It is an honour to look after people in their final days and make a difference for people at a very difficult time." 💛

Last night we held a Christmas Reflections event at the Hospice.✨ It was a truly special evening, filled with music, memories and togetherness. 🎶💛

We had the pleasure of welcoming James Nesbitt to the Marie Curie Hospice in Belfast last week to meet with some of our patients and staff and help finish off decorating our hospice Christmas tree ⭐

James met with patients Muriel and Rosemary who are currently receiving care at the hospice. Muriel even got James involved in doing some knitting and the pair had a great chat about sports, television and all sorts 💛

It was brilliant to see our volunteer Gary in Belfast Live this week, sharing his experience as a Marie Curie Companion volunteer to 97 year old Ethna. 🤩

Gary visits Ethna once a week to have a chat over tea and cake and said 'It's a great privilege to be able to provide her with some company for her well-being and I get a lot out of it too.' 💛

This is what our Companion service is all about: bringing comfort, conversation, and connection to people 🥰

But right now, too many people with a terminal illness are facing impossible choices – like whether to heat their home or buy food. Some are even building up debts that will be left to their loved ones.

This isn’t right. That’s why Marie Curie Northern Ireland is calling on the Government to:

💛A great big thank you!💛

We are so excited to celebrate with SPAR NI on reaching the £1 million fundraising milestone for Marie Curie.

Marie Curie have been SPAR NI's charity partner since 2017 and we have received fantastic support from SPAR stores across Northern Ireland, particularly during the Great Daffodil Appeal and Blooming Great Tea Party.

Fundraising is led by local retailers, store managers and their teams who value and enable accessible services for their neighbourhoods, which includes care from Marie Curie community nurses.

Thank you so much to everyone at SPAR NI who has supported the fundraising for Marie Curie, we are grateful for your support and fundraising efforts which have such an impact on our services.

Congratulations to all the amazing runners who braved the cold, wet and windy weather yesterday running the Irish Life Dublin Marathon 🏃‍♂️🏅

38 people were running for Marie Curie including Mark and Duncan , both taking part for the second year in a row and it was Mark's 21st marathon! 🤩

Our Dublin marathon fundraisers have now raised over an incredible £60k altogether for Marie Curie 👏
