This week, we were delighted to welcome from , who delivered a fantastic workshop based on the Lobbyist’s Guide to the Northern Ireland Assembly and Executive.

The session explored:
- The role of committees and what they do
- How plenary sessions and debates work
- Understanding motions and more

It was an informative and engaging workshop, giving us valuable insights into how decisions are made and how people can influence change. We will utilize Andrew's teachings to support our engagement with MLAs, advocating for equitable opportunities.

That's a wrap!

Last week, we held two fantastic 2-day workshops in collaboration with Féach, bringing together teachers and classroom assistants from across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, all united by one goal: empowering students with vision impairment to thrive in education. These sessions were packed with practical strategies, shared expertise, and inspiring conversations.

A big thank you to the Shared Island Civic Society Fund for their continued support and assistance in making this vital training possible.

A huge thank you to every educator who joined us – your commitment to making classrooms more inclusive is what drives real change. 💛

Together, we’re building a brighter, more accessible future for every child, no matter where they live. 🌍✨

Thank you to the Shared Island Civic Society Fund for their continued support

New Research to Enhance Inclusion and Opportunity for Young People with SEND in NI

Are you the parent of a young person who has left Special school in the last three years?
If so Stranmillis University College would like ten mins of your time to complete the survey attached.

https://lght.ly/h2d9j5

Stranmillis University College, Belfast have been commissioned by Epic Futures NI (funded by UKRI) to carry out an important new research project entitled 'Transform: Exploring Pathways and Barriers for Young People with Disabilities Transitioning from Education to Employment in Northern Ireland'. You can find out more about the project here. https://lght.ly/ebgc62l

The mixed-methods, three-phase research project aims to review existing post-19 provision for young people transitioning from special schools in Northern Ireland, identifying availability, access criteria and service gaps.

We here at Angel Eyes NI fully support such important research, allowing the voices and experiences of our young people and parent carers to be heard.

An inspiring Angel Eyes NI young person, Natalie, bravely travelled independently on a bus for the first time a year ago and has now conquered another challenge: travelling independently on a train! 🚆

Each step, like this, is about so much more than travel — it’s about confidence, independence, and the freedom to do things for yourself - what an achievement Natalie! ✨

Good luck to all our young people receiving their GCSE results tomorrow! We know how much effort, determination, and late-night revision has gone into reaching this point. Whatever your results may be, remember they don’t define your future — they’re simply one stepping stone on your journey!

We’re rooting for you every step of the way! 🙌

Last week, we were delighted to welcome Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People, Northern Ireland’s Children’s Commissioner, to Angel Eyes NI!

Chris experienced first-hand the passion and dedication of our team, and the impact of our work with children, young people, and families living with vision impairment across NI. 💛
From family support and outreach to grants, education and youth advocacy, and specialist training, we’re proud to be the only organisation in NI delivering this unique range of services.

We’re excited to continue working with the Commissioner to ensure that the rights and voices of children and young people with vision impairment are heard and protected.
