"A new review of vitamin C evidence concludes that doses of vitamin C above 1 gram decreases cold severity and doses of at least 6, ideally 8 grams during a cold reduce duration considerably, halving recovery time if you take 8 grams."

Something I've been encouraging people to do for many years.

Today is the beginning of the solar term Xiaohan (小寒)

01/01/2025

At this time of year everyone is talking about getting "fit and healthy" after all the excesses of eating too much and probably sitting around too much as well!
If like most people you struggle with keeping these resolutions, why not try a different approach? Qigong makes you feel good on the inside and "in your head", as well as your body - and helps to create a virtuous circle of wellbeing.
Classes available in Belfast:
Ballynafeigh Community Centre Saturdays and
Agapé Centre Lisburn Road Tuesday.

Celebrate the Winter Solstice

As the year winds down, we welcome the Winter Solstice — the longest night of the year. This special day marks the turning point where darkness gives way to light, a time to reflect, release, and prepare for new beginnings.

Celebrated annually between December 21 and December 23, Winter Solstice represents the longest night and shortest day of the year. It symbolizes the darkness before the return of light and encourages us to release old habits, emotions, and patterns, making space for renewal and growth.

Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Winter Solstice aligns with the principles of yin and yang. This solar term marks the turning point from the dominance of yin energy to the gradual return of yang

Just as nature shifts toward balance, it's the perfect opportunity to nurture yourself and align with the energy of renewal.

How to Celebrate Winter Solstice?

Enjoy Warming Foods: High-yang foods are believed to fortify the body and combat the winter chill.

Fresh Ginger (Sheng Jiang) helps to resolve surface, induce diaphoresis, warm the middle Jiao, control vomiting, remove seafood poisoning or the toxicity of other herbs

Gather with Loved Ones: Strengthen family bonds over traditional dishes, soups, dumplings, wontons
