What Are Nasolabial Fold Lines?
Nasolabial fold lines, often called smile or laugh lines, are the creases that run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth. They’re a natural part of facial expression but tend to become more noticeable as we age.
These lines form due to a combination of repeated facial movement, gravity, and a gradual loss of collagen, elastin, and facial volume—particularly in the cheeks. Genetics, sun exposure, and lifestyle factors can also play a role.
