ARBI (sometimes called ARBD) stands for Alcohol-Related Brain Injury.

This is brain damage caused by long-term or heavy alcohol use, often linked to poor nutrition (especially a lack of vitamin B1/thiamine).

Alcohol-Related Brain Injury can affect:
• Memory and concentration
• Planning and decision-making
• Mood, behaviour, and emotional control
• Everyday tasks and independence

The good news is that with specialist rehabilitation, abstinence and thiamine treatment, the research shows that up to 75% of individuals with an ARBI can make functional improvements.

If you believe that you or someone you know is living with an ARBI visit our website to see what support is available: https://threshold-services.co.uk/accommodation/alcohol-related-brain-injury-unit-arbi
