🐶 Why Use Enrichment for Your Dog? 🧠🦴

Did you know that mental stimulation is just as important as physical exercise for dogs? Enrichment toys and activities keep your dog’s brain engaged, helping to:

🐾 Reduce boredom & prevent destructive behaviors
🐾 Boost confidence & problem-solving skills
🐾 Lower stress & anxiety
🐾 Encourage natural instincts like sniffing, chewing & foraging

From puzzle feeders to scent games, there are endless ways to keep your dog happy and engaged. What’s your pup’s favorite enrichment activity? 🐕✨

🐾 Calling all pet sitting professionals 🐾

We’re looking to connect with experienced, compassionate pet sitters who may be able to support some of our rehab patients when their owners are away or need extra help.

Our patients are often post-surgical or senior dogs, so their care needs can be a little more specialised. We’re particularly looking for sitters who:
🐾 Have up-to-date pet first aid training
🐾 Are confident administering medication
🐾 Are happy for their details to be shared with the pet’s primary vet
🐾 Understand mobility challenges (e.g. avoiding stairs, managing slippy floors)
🐾 May be willing to stay in the owner’s home if needed

📅 We currently have an urgent case:
A young fox red Labrador who has recently had a hip replacement needs care on **23rd May**. The owners are based in the **Bangor area**.

If you’re a pet sitter who feels you could help — now or in the future — we’d love to hear from you.

👇 Please comment below with:
✔️ Your business name & contact details
✔️ Your experience (especially with post-op or senior pets)
✔️ Why you feel you’d be a good fit for our patients

We’re keen to build a trusted network to support our clients and their pets with the highest standard of care 💙

🐾 House visit day for Kyia 🏡

A lovely home visit for Kyia with our vet Josie for her acupuncture treatment — and it looks like it’s a very sleepy, relaxed session for her 😴💛

Acupuncture can be really beneficial for dogs like Kyia who are living with lumbar spondylosis. It helps to reduce pain, ease muscle tension, improve mobility, and support overall comfort — especially for chronic spinal conditions 🐶✨

We love seeing her so settled and comfortable during treatment 💙

PEMF ….. say what?🤔🤔

PEMF is a safe, non-invasive treatment that we offer in the clinic.

Patients often enjoy the therapy and get quite sleepy 😴 🥱 during it. Treatment usually starts twice weekly and then spreads according to the patient's needs.🫶

The science bit 👩‍🔬👨‍⚕️…. PEMF (or Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy) uses low-level electromagnetic stimulation to stimulate the cells🧬in our body. Every cell has polarity (like a battery), and magnets affect polarity. PEMF makes the mitochondria within our cells produce more ATP( adenosine triphosphate), which the body uses for energy. It reduces free radicals and improves the transport of ions like calcium and potassium across cell membranes, thereby improving overall cellular function.🤲

Concerning pain 😖PEMF changes the membrane potentials at the prostaglandin receptor sites of type C nerves reducing their effectiveness in transmitting pain signals to the brain. In recent years, researchers have confirmed that PEMF has a role in stem cell and osteogenic proliferation. PEMF is FDA-approved for stimulating bone growth and treating oedema and pain.

Scientists 👩‍🔬 have been able to show:

✅PEMF can reduce pain and swelling after surgery

✅PEMF can reduce chronic pain

✅PEMF can help with fracture healing

✅PEMF can help reduce cartilage breakdown in osteoarthritis and improve the functional performance of patients after one month of therapy.

Ask in the clinic if you want to know more or book a course of treatment.🫶🐾🐶

🐾🖤 Meet Charlie 🤍🐾

Charlie, a lovely Border Collie, has recently been attending our vet Josie for assessment following some lameness, and has now started his hydrotherapy journey with us 🐶💧

For his first pool session, Charlie was a little unsure on the ramp, but he stayed curious and soon settled once he was in the water 🤍 He wore a medium float and absolutely loved working with toys, which really helped build his confidence and engagement 🖤

Initially, his movement showed a bit of a “frog-like” pattern through his front and hind limbs, but with gentle guidance, support, and some clever exercises (including wide circles and tactile cues), we were able to encourage a better range of motion 🐾

Charlie completed a full 10-minute session with rest breaks and clearly enjoyed himself—he was super playful afterwards, which is always a great sign 🤍✨

We’re looking forward to helping Charlie continue to build strength, confidence, and improved movement in the coming sessions 🖤🐾

🐾🤩Why Take Your Dog to a Vet Physio?🤩🐾
Just like us, our dogs can struggle with stiff joints, sore muscles, injuries, or just slowing down as they age. That’s where veterinary physiotherapy comes in!
🌟A vet physio can help your dog: 🌟
❗️Recover safely from surgery or injury
❗Ease arthritis and joint stiffness
❗️Build strength and coordination
❗️Lose weight in a gentle, supported way
❗️Improve mobility and confidence
🤩 Live a happier, more comfortable life
Whether your pup is a senior slowing down, an athlete needing maintenance, or a young dog with a limp—physio isn’t just for the injured, it’s for everydog.
Think of it as personal training + massage therapy + TLC—all tailored to your dog’s needs.

🐾 All hands on deck for Miss Zina 💦

It’s been a team effort in the pool, with Susan and Becky helping Zina confidently navigate the water 🐶💙 Her enthusiasm is infectious — and she certainly keeps everyone on their toes (and legs moving!)

After having both cruciate ligaments operated on last June, Zina went through an intensive rehab programme to get back on her feet. We’re so proud to continue supporting her to stay strong, mobile, and loving life 🐾✨

A warm welcome to Smudge, a new patient at Vet Rehab NI 🐾💦

After a thorough assessment with our vet Lisa, Smudge began her rehabilitation programme with a few underwater treadmill sessions to help build confidence, strength, and controlled movement.

This week was a big milestone… her very first swim in the big pool! 🏊‍♀️ And she did brilliantly. Swimming can be a fantastic low-impact way to improve muscle strength, joint mobility, and overall fitness while keeping pressure off the joints.

Of course, Smudge also made sure to pose in her pink life jacket for the camera — as all girls do! 💗🐶

We’re looking forward to watching her progress over the coming sessions.
