Yesterday I had the chance to bring Spiral Praxis into an ICF Communities of Practice session alongside Siobhán -
One attendee put it beautifully:
“Our modern digital world is loud and fast. Most tech is designed to move at speed, efficient, frictionless. The power of coaching is holding space to feel, be, and exist in messy, non-linear, human ways.” (Sarah É Carter, PhD)
That is exactly it.
What we explored together - story, symbolism, silence, the body as a place of knowing - is not a soft alternative to rigorous coaching. It is what rigorous coaching looks like when we stop moving too quickly past what our clients are actually carrying.
The Undo phase of Spiral Praxis exists for this reason. Be-Do-Have - as solid a framework as it is - assumes the being is already accessible. And sometimes, it isn’t. Not without first creating the conditions for a different kind of knowing.
That is the work. And yesterday, it was a delight to share this with a room full of coaches who get it.
The Spiral Praxis for Coaches guide is free - PDF, audio practice, and my Insight Timer library. Link in bio.
