How can yoga help when we feel that our whole world turned upside down?
People around me often get surprised that I can get nervous and scared just like anybother fellow being who is not practicing yoga. “You shouldn’t react like this if you are practicing yoga”- i can hear this tiny bit loaded comment a lot…
There are so many expectations in society how we should behave in certain situations which could lead to suppress the expression of our basic emotions, and our inner child. With practising yoga we can help that inner child to be free, we learn to accept and express our feelings and this way we learn to love ourselves. If I cry I let each cells of my body cry, if I am nervous my whole body becomes the nervousness, if I laugh I make the whole universe around me to laugh. It’s enough to know that sadness, nervousness and laughter are not me I can let them go. I am the one behind all these emotions and I can let these feelings pass without getting attached to them without identifying myself with them. But how can we learn this through yoga? We go into a pose which tickles an emotion, a reaction, takes us out of our comfort zone…then we breathe…we accept our reaction…and we settle into that pose…we sit in that pose…and we release…That’s how we train our nervous system to release tension. We learn to get back to the state of balance. Even if the world around us turns upside down and we happen to turn with it…we know how to get back to straight…to that balanced calm state…unless we decide to enjoy hanging upside down…there’s nothing wrong with that 😂…And the good thing is that we don’t even have to believe in this or in yoga…It’s enough to practice and observe…and if it happens then HAPPY DAYS!
