The story of Reflexions Holistic Therapies - and me Lorraine Grove

My name is Lorraine Grove MFHT. I am a Complementary Therapist accredited member of the Federation of Holistic Therapies (FHT). I am based in Carryduff – 6 miles from Belfast, however, I can travel to you if required. I discovered the joy of Reflexology whilst going through a difficult time in my life. It gave me a new focus and helped me to discover that I could give something back to others. Since qualifying I have continued my journey completing courses by many wonderful teachers in the industry to allow me to enhance my skills and focus on more specific needs for my clients. These courses include Reflexology for Pain, for Lymph Drainage (RLD) for cancer and maternity. Also facial reflexology which is amazing. I was introduced to Bowen Therapy after suffering from persistent back pain with little relief, after just 1 treatment I was amazed at my body’s response and the gentleness of the technique. I have successfully used this therapy on all age groups from tiny babies with colic, young children with anxiety and bedwetting, older clients with muscular pain, hayfever, asthma, jaw pain - there are many areas where Bowen can help.

🧠 World Stroke Day | Reflexology & Recovery

A stroke can have a profound impact on both body and mind. Alongside essential medical care and rehabilitation, some people recovering from stroke also turn to reflexology as a way to support their wellbeing.

Reflexology is a complementary therapy involving gentle pressure on specific areas of the feet, hands or face. While it is not a treatment for stroke itself, emerging research suggests it may:
✨ Help reduce anxiety and stress
🌿 Support relaxation and emotional wellbeing
🌙 Improve sleep quality and overall comfort
💓 Promote a sense of balance and calm during recovery

Many stroke survivors experience heightened tension, fatigue and anxiety - factors that can make rehabilitation more challenging. Reflexology may help ease some of these symptoms, supporting a more holistic recovery journey.

⚠️ Important reminders:
• Always seek medical clearance before starting reflexology after a stroke.
• Work with a qualified practitioner who can adapt treatment to your needs (e.g., mobility challenges, sensation changes, or spasticity).
• Avoid treatment if there is active DVT, open wounds or foot infection.

Reflexology works best when used alongside, not instead of, medical and rehabilitative care. For many people, it can offer a gentle space for calm and comfort during a time of major change. 💜

Our work might look a little magical, but there’s real science behind the calm.

Bowen Therapy helps activate the body’s parasympathetic nervous system — your natural healing power.

This Halloween, let’s celebrate the magic of balance.

Happy {almost} Halloween! 🎃

Maybe you’re not here by accident.

If you’re hearing about Bowen Therapy for the first time, it might just be the right time to try it.

Trust the timing of your life.

Not mystical — just masterful.

It's not magic, nor a magic pill... it's a physiological response to sensory input.

Bowen Therapy honours how the body and brain talk to each other.

Reiki is energy work that’s been studied more seriously in recent years. Clinical trials, including those published in peer-reviewed journals like The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, have shown measurable reductions in pain and anxiety after Reiki sessions. While it’s often described as a “hands-on healing,” Reiki is more about energetic alignment helping the body’s own systems return to balance.

I recommend Reiki at least once a month for everyone because of how much outer influences we have on our biofield. Energy clearing is self-care too. If you are moving through a particularly difficult time, having Reiki once a fortnight or week can be incredibly helpful for your nervous system and your intuition.

When I hold Reiki attunements, I’m guiding people to connect with this universal energy themselves. Students often describe a sense of calm confidence that flows into everyday life, a reminder that we have the ability to self-regulate, heal, and grow. It’s a beautiful practice that bridges science, energy, and intention.

My students are guided through my Reiki Initiation Path, slowing down the learning to provide plenty of integration and time to adjust to the energies. I feel this is something that is missing in Reiki attunements today.

Our next Reiki Initiation Path begins at Imbolc (end of Jan/ early February), if you are interested in learning with me or repeating a level, please get in touch xx
