This week we travelled to Annalong and the Gordon Family farm, set in the foothills of the Mournes, with fields stretching down to the sea. Three generations of farming was started there in 1962, when Annett Gordon bought the farm and started a dairy business that has thrived and grown through the next generations of Ivan and now James.

And how could you take a bad photo with these views and content, healthy cows?!

Thanks to the Gordon's for allowing us to take these photos and for telling us about their dairy enterprise and plans for the next few months as they make the most of grazing.

We have news!! Last week we celebrated our incredible FOUR relay teams and ONE individual runner, getting ready to take part in this year's Belfast Marathon. Allowing us to not only get a bit fitter, but also fundraise and support four chosen charities, Air Ambulance Northern Ireland, Childrens Heartbeat Trust, Northern Ireland Hospice and Rural Support.

We took this opportunity to welcome each charity into the York Road, where they shared with us what wonderful work they do and how any money we raise can help in so many ways. We then topped off the wonderful morning with some delicious fruit and cake (it's all about balance).

We can't wait to cheer on our teams and the amazing individual that is taking on the whole marathon, on the 3rd May and any money we raise in doing this will be match funded by W&R Barnett and Thompsons, that's double the support we can give back to these charities.

We recently welcomed to our York Road site for a tour of the mill.

It's always lovely to get the opportunity to show groups of young farmers around our multispecies mill and answer any questions that anyone has, like "what is the platform/ledge for, high up on the building that you can see when you drive past on the motorway?"

Always a popular question 😉 Does anyone know the answer?

This week we had the privilege of being invited onto the Acheson Family Farm in County Armagh, where we were welcomed by David Acheson and his son Craig. We were treated to a great chat on the history of the family and how the farm business has changed over four generations. You can read about the Acheson beef enterprise in today's Farming Life, where hard work and dedication to the sustainability of the family farm, by David, his wife and all the family, has ensured its ongoing success.

De Laval Training
Milking parlour software systems, whether for conventional systems or robots, are central to not only feed allocation and management, but also to complete herd data recording and analysis.

Colleagues from both Thompsons' Technical and Sales teams recently had further training on the latest versions of the DelPro software package from De-Laval enabling them to further enhance the back-up to Thompson’s customers using De-Laval milking equipment. Thanks to Sara Davidson and Neil Brown from De-Laval for an educational and informative session.
