💥 Client Spotlight 💥

I’d like to introduce a client and friend of mine, Aaron Taylor.

Aaron came to me with a lofty goal.

He wanted to lose whatever amount of weight it takes to get into general great shape and feel his best.

Bad habits had soared his body weight to over 300lbs.
Like myself, he has a big frame but he wasn’t happy with where he was at.

Today we hit the mark of having lost 30lbs of pure fat (10% of his total bodyweight), while only losing 0.4lb of muscle. Anyone who knows a bit about fat loss knows that this is impressive.

He wanted guidance, advice and to be kept accountable.

I set Aaron some non-negotiables.
1. Protein target of 1g per pound of his goal bodyweight.
2. Track his calories and stay within agreed range. We used our state of the art InBody scanner to work this out.
3. Report to me daily with calories and exercise.
4. Show up once a week
5. Train twice a week with weights at a gym much closer to home. (Aaron travels in from a fair distance away to train with us.

I want it to be noted that Aaron’s success is massively down to the fact that he has followed the rules TO A TEE!!

During this epic fat loss journey, Aaron has went from bench pressing 17.5kg dumbbells to today pressing 40kg EACH HAND for 6 sets of 5 reps, with plenty left in the tank.

To say I’m proud of this guy would be massive understatement.

This man has overcome more adversity than most of us could face in a lifetime.

This has fast become a favourite breakfast of mine…

Eggs Zenedict

Toasted soda bread - NO BUTTER (Genesis brand is lowest cal)
2 fried eggs (fry lite oil)
3 bacon medallions (microwaved)
Small spread of red onion chutney.

All coming in at around 500 kcals and 33g protein.

Not bad macros considering it tastes like something you’d get out of Brew & Bake brunch-house.

Plus, none of this had to be prepped in advance.
Knocked it all up in gym with a toasted, microwave and my wee omelette maker thing for the fried eggs.

WACK!
Ps excuse the poor presentation, was in a rush to eat but thought I’d share recipe while I was at it!

With a rugby tournament on the horizon, it’s time to ramp up my conditioning.

Today’s session was simple and enjoyable.

Ski erg, 0:25 On, 0:35 Off x 3 sets of 8.
Rest 2:00 between sets.

Lungs felt good and feel ready to push the numbers much harder, this day next week.

Overnight Oats!

A versatile breakfast than be dressed up many different ways.

A few hacks…
1) a dessert spoon of oats is generally about 10g oats.
So for 50g ➡️ 5 spoonfuls
For 70g ➡️ 7 spoonfuls

2) making them drier is nicer (in my opinion). The example in this video wasn’t just quite as dry as I usually make them. I like them to be the consistency of cookie dough.

3) changing flavour of protein powder and which fruits you use, will give you variety, while keeping the base ingredients the same.

4) dry oats and protein powder can be stored at work. So all you need to bring in is some fresh fruit and you’re all sorted.

5) these are very quick to prepare. Despite being called overnight oats, soaking them for 20 mins is enough.

6) avoid soaking oats in milk if you’re wanting to manage your body composition. Using water is an easy way to reduce calories.

7) this is a great meal to have before sport or going to the gym.

Everyone’s first instinct is to cut things out.

Try adding instead - more protein, more fibre, more water, more real food.

Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing dads out there.
Very lucky to be a father to these two, and super blessed to have had the legend of a dad that I had.
I miss big Niall very much, but always grateful for the time we had together.
As he always said “you get one crack at the whip!”
So, that’s how we approach things.
