The Bike Pit Belfast

The Bike Pit Belfast A place to repair, modify or just tinker at your motorcycle, go-kart or even push bike.

Hopefully with the by-product of this being a sense of community and support for those that need it.

We open up here. No-one judges you, so you can talk about anything you want.

People come from all sections of town because they all have the same interests – two wheels. And then while they’re here, they can talk.

There are people here who have been coming from the beginning, but new people show up all the time. We’ll all help each other, we learn so much just by sharing. It’s different fixing someone else’s bike too, you can just relax and enjoy it. Whatever problem you have with your bike, there’s always an expert, and younger members can learn from older ones. About fixing bikes, but also things like keeping safe on the road. Some of us have been riding bikes longer than they’ve been living!

But it’s as much about friends as it is about fixing bikes. It’s like hanging out in a friend’s garage, except a lot of us never would have met without this place.

Bikes and Minds received a £63,460 grant to support and expand their project in Belfast. People can work together on their motorcycles, build friendships and access support in a place where they feel comfortable.

Local business S3 Solutions who supports many local charities and community groups have picked Bikes and Minds (the bike Pit) as one of two charities to fund raise for during the month of March. The other being "Mindskills training & coaching". I have to say When Nicola from S3 Solutions phoned us to say we had been picked we were over the moon, it couldn't have come at a better time. Covid brings many issues and problems to so many in our community and is putting greater pressure on all of us but hopefully with the this great support from S3 solutions we can do some good and help those in need.
It goes without saying please give generously, for Both Charities. And we'll be following S3 Solutions with their challenge over the next month! Thanks again to all.

Introducing S3's 'Move Through March Charity Challenge'! 🚶🏼🏃🏼‍♀️🚲

Throughout the month of March the S3 Solutions team are aiming to collectively walk/run/cycle the perimeter of Ireland (3751Km to be exact) to raise money for two local mental health charities Mindskills training & coaching and The Bike Pit Belfast who have been working tirelessly to support their local communities during COVID-19.

We have set up a just giving page and would love it if you could make a small donation to our cause: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/s3-solutions?utm_term=AaQ6j9WkJ

Follow our journey and keep up to date with our progress on here over the next month!🔵⚪

“This , we are celebrating the work our funded groups like Bikes and Minds do to support wellbeing.😀 Men who attend find they can open up about their struggles while repairing their motorbikes, improving mental health. 🏍 Well done all! ”

We were lucky enough to give a little back to a business who really goes beyond to support our community. The Pizza Guyz Restaurant sadly had their scooter stolen and was found in a really bad state. So John, Colm, Andy, Ray, Gerry, Chris and Mark took it on themselves to help them out. And as you can see from the pics, it was an amazing job.
The Pizza Guys have supported our NHS workforce, Harberton Special Needs School, SANDS NI to name a few and we know of a lot of help they give behind the scenes as well. As I said we are just luck enough to say thank you.

Great to have local representative Paul Doherty call in this weekend to drop off newsletters for NI Alcohol Awareness Week 2020 and so we can show him what we've been up to!

Alcohol can have a big impact on our mental health and especially with lockdown our drinking habits may have changed. It's important we keep an eye on it to make sure we're looking after ourselves both mentally and physically 💪

The Bike Pit

A group of us have decided to open a place for people who feel isolated, at a loss or just wanting somewhere they can go to keep their minds busy and hands active. The general idea is to ‘tinker’ modify or repair motorcycles or just come along for a cuppa.
