Coach – Part time Position (up to 16 hours)

Do you want to build a career in the Fitness Industry?

Improve Fitness are hiring a new coach for our growing East Belfast location.

As an Improve Fitness coach you will be expected to deliver an exceptional service, giving our members a first class experience.

We are hiring a level 3 personal trainer.

Wages will be between 24 - 32k per year depending on experience & Pro Rata to hours worked!

You must:

✅️ Have a passion for helping people
✅️ Be hard working and enthusiastic
✅️ Have excellent communication and organisational skills
✅️ Have a strong sense of empathy and compassion
✅️ Be willing to learn from experienced coaches
✅️ Enjoy working as part of a team

Where were you before you started with us?

I was terrified of gyms and fed up with how I was feeling. I had some weights at home but no accountability or structure. I play hockey, but I knew I needed to do some strength + conditioning if I wanted to keep playing and reduce the number of injuries.

Was there anything you were sceptical about before starting?

I was worried that I wouldn’t fit in. Gyms were never places I felt comfortable in, & I thought I’d be completely out of place & unable to do the exercises. But everyone was so welcoming & reassuring. No matter what injuries you have or what level you’re starting from, there’s always an adaptation or alternative. I was also concerned about the time commitment, but that’s actually one of the things I love about Improve Fitness, 45-minute workouts. I used to spend hours in the gym, which took up my whole evening and felt like a chore, with very few results

When did you realise you had made the right move?

Within the first week, I already felt more energetic & actually looked forward to training. By weeks 2 & 3, going to group sessions had just become part of my routine, & it never felt like a chore. By week 4, as I got to know more people, I started to really enjoy the craic, & training became the perfect way to lift my mood after stressful days at work. That’s when I knew I wanted to join long-term, & I haven’t looked back. I never thought I would be one of those gym people who was chuffed to get a PB but here I am! Ian is always just a message away, and training is now a non-negotiable part of both my routine and my budget!

What results have you got in your time?

I have more energy, better mobility, improved sleep and diet, and I generally feel happier within myself. I’ve lost about 9lb and still have a bit to go, but I’m far less focused on the number on the scales because how I feel completely outweighs that. I am partial to a bottomless brunch and enjoy nights out, so I’m happy with slow and steady weight loss. I’d also say training has improved both my hockey performance & my recovery.

Who would you recommend this for?

Honestly, anyone. There’s a great mix within the membership, and everyone benefits in a way that’s tailored to them. For me, I’d especially recommend it to anyone who doesn’t feel confident in large commercial gyms or to those who are short on time—Improve Fitness is perfect. I honestly don’t know why I didn’t join sooner!

While I am absolutely gutted to be losing a great coach I am buzzing for Jenna to be opening her own studio!

She is a great coach, but an even better person! I will miss her as will all the Improve fitness members! 😪

Before joining Improve Fitness I was a member of a commercial gym, i had also dabbled in the world of online classes.

𝗪𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱?

I was so nervous before my first class, I had been used to going into a gym and jumping on a treadmill and not doing much else, I had never been brave enough to go near a free weight area.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲?

The team at Improve made me feel so comfortable from the beginning, keeping an eye on what I was doing and introducing me to the rest of the members - the support and level of coaching I received has kept me locked in to this style of coaching.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲?

My results dont just stop with scale weight and physical measurements, my confidence has soared since joining this gym, i have learnt new outlets for stress management improving my overall mental health. Training in an environment with a group of like minded people really encourages you to be the best version of yourself and ive made some pretty awesome friends as a result.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀?
Before beginning at Improve Fitness, I never had much experience in the gym. I had joined a gym before improve but I didn't know what I should be doing to get the benefits of the work out. I felt anxious and self conscious when I went, so eventually stopped . I would have always suffered with anxiety & felt very self conscious about my appearance, particularly my arms & I hated wearing t shirts. This was something I always wanted to change.


𝗪𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴?
I was nervous when I first began the SGPT classes, worried I would make mistakes and embarrass myself in front of a people so I was sceptical if this would be the right fit for me.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲?
After a few classes, I settled in & got to know the other members which made me feel more comfortable. The coaches took their time to help me and the work outs were well explained and could be tailored to suit my capability so I didn't feel under pressure to be doing the same as anyone else. My anxiety about attending began to leave me and I looked forward to getting to each class.


𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲?
Since I've joined Improve Fitness I can see massive change in my appearance. My shape has changed and I'm stronger and fitter than ever before. It has also massively improved my mental health reducing my anxiety and it has helped me build my self confidence. I no longer felt self conscious about my appearance and feel confident wearing t shirts now!

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿?
Anyone who needs guidance and support I would recommend them to try improve fitness. I never believed that I could achieve what I have so far so it was one of the best decisions I made to join.
