Maryland HealthCare is a new and unique facility. Located in the picturesque Castlereagh Hills, a tranquil, rural environment which; is conducive to the provision of excellence in caring for dementia. Our specialist healthcare centre offers the full spectrum of 24-hour nursing care for the needs of vulnerable adults living with Dementia, a Learning or Physical Disability. The innovative new model of service provides the highest quality and standards of person centred care for patients. Whatever you need now or in the future we have the expertise and right people to provide it. Maryland is an elegant purpose-built property offering 84 spacious en-suite private rooms in four suites of twenty rooms. Each suite of rooms also has large assisted bathing facilities. The layout and relaxed homely atmosphere encourages patients to enjoy the facility whilst recognising their rights, privacy, dignity, choice, individuality and independence in a secure and friendly community environment. All rooms are tastefully decorated and fully furnished. Set within the most beautiful natural enclosure, which will include therapeutic gardens, sensory gardens, secure gardens, orchard, soft fruit area, allotments, kitchen garden, contemplation garden, livestock meadow and wildlife supporting flora meticulously tended by our gardening team. Each member of our staff has been carefully selected and fully trained by us so you can be sure of receiving the best person centred care every day. Our senior nurses will talk with you and your family to find out about your needs. We then create a bespoke care plan precisely tailored for your individual requirements. Our experienced carers will always be on hand to assist you with the tasks of normal day living. Day or night they will not only cater for your planned care but also for those unexpected moments when you might need something extra, no matter what it is, we will endeavour to provide for you. Our team will continue their dialogue with you, your family and your Doctor, and regularly review your individual plan to ensure that additional care and equipment are available when you need it. If your needs increase in the future, we will provide private nursing around the clock from convalescence right through to end of life care. We want you to feel as though you are being cared for in your own home. The centre has excellent standards of care, outstanding services and dedication to treating every member of our community with respect, dignity and the individuality they deserve. We’ve based our purpose-built Units on leading research by leading Universities and European standards. Maryland HealthCare is a comfortable, homely facility ensuring all our patients comfort and safety. At Maryland our enthusiastic team of specialist Activity Co-ordinators provides a bespoke range of entertaining activities every day to complement your person centred care. As well as being fun and to fulfil your interests for example gardening, we provide a wide range of activities to maintain your physical and mental dexterity. Local entertainers and musicians visit us often. We have an onsite library and have regular church services. Residents are encouraged to pursue their own hobbies and interests or maybe try something new. Mealtimes are an important part of our patient’s day. Our experienced chefs create balanced and nutritious homemade meals using fresh local ingredients. Shortly after admission a member of the catering department will meet with each patient to discuss their personal food preferences or dietary needs. There is plenty of variety, and alternatives are available on request. Patients are encouraged to eat in the dining room in each unit, or if they prefer they can eat in their own room. Our laundry and housekeeping staff maintain the spotless standards you would expect with the most up to date cleaning equipment. Your room will be cleaned daily. An onsite laundry is available and any specialist cleaning of clothes will be arranged by our staff. Maryland HealthCare is a unique building; which exceeds expectations set out by the Regulation Quality Inspection Authority (R.Q.I.A.) and has been instrumental in implementing more advanced international dementia research by providing the following:
- Bedrooms are between 18.7 and 21 square metres (between 55% & 75% larger Bedrooms)
