JOB SUMMARY
The Payroll Service Centre (PSC) provides a range of payroll, pension and travel functions across the Health and Social Care organisations on behalf of the Business Services Organisation (BSO).

The postholder will supervise and participate in the provision of the full range of Payrolling activities for the HSC ensuring a responsive and high-quality services at all times. This will include operation and inputting to the HR, Payroll and Travel system to ensure that management information is accurate and using this information to ensure that all activity is progressing in a timely manner, identifying any delays or blockages and taking remedial action to resolve issues arising. In addition, the postholder will be expected to ensure clarity of communications with managers and employees, particularly on issues of concern arising from Payroll queries.

The postholder will deliver payroll activities in line with all legislative and statutory requirements ensuring strong governance mechanisms are in place.
The postholder will ensure all payroll processes are accurate, timely, and meet data integrity and audit requirements.

The postholder will be required to provide training and support to Payroll Officers across the centre and specifically those under their supervision. The postholder will be required to contribute to a process of continuous improvement, including a number of initiatives aimed at improving general payroll processes across the HSC.

The postholder shall ensure a high standard of customer service is delivered by monitoring team performance in relation to customer queries.

JOB SUMMARY
The jobholder will provide high quality support to the FPS Pharmaceutical Service Manager in the daily management of FPS Pharmaceutical payment and business operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality business/payment services for Family Practitioner Services Pharmaceutical contractors. The jobholder will provide support and advice in the operational management of all directly managed business, payment and external customer facing web services within the Family Practitioner Services Pharmaceutical department. The post-holder will deputise for the Pharmaceutical Service Manager and will be central to the effective delivery of a team’s business area objectives.

As a key member of the business delivery area the jobholder will be required to demonstrate well-developed tactical and operational skills in order to effectively lead teams in the championing of new services. Recently, Business Services Organisation (BSO) Leadership Centre staff Maura McMackin and Associate Marie Roulston, OBE hosted the final showcase of the Regional Leading Social Work programme, at Lisburn Civic Centre.

This year, 50 emerging social work leaders completed the Northern Ireland Social Care Council Personal Improvement Plan (PiP) accredited program and were awarded 3 Leadership and Strategic Professional (PiP) requirements.

The BSO Procurement and Logistics Service (PaLS) is the sole provider of professional supplies and services to Health and Social Care (HSC) Trusts, Board and Agencies in Northern Ireland (NI) covering contracting, logistics, warehousing, purchasing, capital equipping, ICT and E-commerce. It is an accredited Centre of Procurement Expertise (CoPE) established under the NI Public Procurement Policy (2002, as amended).

Currently employing circa 400 staff on sites throughout NI, BSO PaLS has an operating budget of about £18m and influences approximately £1.3bn of goods and services expenditure (clinical and non-clinical) per annum on behalf of HSC with 2,900 contracts totalling in excess of £1.7bn.

The BSO wishes to appoint a replacement senior manager:
To provide leadership to both the operational and sourcing procurement functions based at their respective locations.

To drive developments in procurement in line with best practice within the NHS, Health and Social Care Northern Ireland (HSCNI) and more widely for a discrete range of services and commodities.

Business Services Organisation (BSO) Clinical Education Centre (CEC) were pleased to sponsor the Team Manager Award at the recent Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Awards that took place in the Culloden Hotel. The annual celebration event recognises and rewards excellence in the nursing profession.

Heather Finlay Head of CEC, presented the winner Agnes Dee from Southern Health and Social Care Trust (SHSCT) with her award.

CEC staff enjoyed the event and were delighted to have Chair of the BSO Board Julie Erskine and members of the Executive Leadership Team join them for the evening.

JOB SUMMARY
The Business Services Organisation provides a broad variety of ICT services to a range of HSC organisations. These include supporting existing business and clinical functions and the introduction of new initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of treatment and care provision. BSO Information Technology Services currently employs over 450 people.

JOB SUMMARY
All warehouse operational work associated with the receipt, storage, picking, marshalling and despatch of all commodities processed through the SDC, Belfast warehouse in accordance with the daily stock demands of the BSO customer base, using such mechanical aids as necessary and conforming to ISO 9001 Quality standard. Staff duties will rotate on a regular basis.

KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES – include:
Verify correct delivery address, number of pallets/boxes to be unloaded and ensuring that they conform to required pallet height specification.
The post holder will promote and support effective team working, fostering a culture of openness and transparency.
Assist the Business Services Organisation in fulfilling its statutory duties under Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 to promote equality of opportunity and good relations and under the Disability Discrimination (Northern Ireland) Order 2006. Staff are also required to support the BSO in complying with its obligations under Human Rights Legislation.
Receiving and verification of incoming stock/non-stock goods from suppliers for quantity and quality and reporting discrepancies as appropriate.

Recently colleagues from Business Services Organisation (BSO) Interpreting Services and Leadership centre attended the launch of the ‘Make My Voice Heard’ Report at Parliament Buildings. The Report commissioned by the Department of Health ( ), outlines experiences of women seeking international protection accessing Health & Social Care ( ) in Northern Ireland.

The Personal and Public Involvement (PPI) project was led by a Steering group, chaired by the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust (BHSCT) with support from across HSC including the BSO Leadership Centre and BSO Interpreting Services.
The Leadership Centre were responsible for facilitating engagement and collation of the report supporting an independent approach that encouraged contributors to share openly. The Leadership Centre and Interpreting Services, worked together throughout the project to ensure that interpreters were available for contributors, with language support in Arabic, Farsi, Ukrainian and Somali.

An extract from the report stated, “We also extend our appreciation to Business Services Organisation (BSO) Interpreting Services and the female interpreters who joined us across Northern Ireland and whose professionalism ensured that our contributors voices were conveyed” ~ Make My Voice Heard – DoH Report.

A number of recommendations are made in the report, for both the wider HSCNI and BSO Interpreting Service, which were agreed upon within the Steering group and accepted by the commissioner in the Department of Health (DoH).

In the launch of the report, Health Minister Mike Nesbitt commented~ "This report is a much-welcomed addition to the conversation on how we can collectively support integration in Northern Ireland. It will provide a significant evidence base as we move forward to commission support services and tackle health inequalities for those who have chosen to make Northern Ireland their home."
