Some children really don't like going for an ECHO, it can all be pretty scary for a child.

Here is a reminder of a child friendly video with Dr. Ranj on Echocardiogram's. This is a great visual aid to help children understand the process of going for an Echo. ❤

There is also a range of video's in the series GET WELL SOON with Dr. Ranj which may help children and parents.😀

CHT Team ❤️

Children's series about healthcare. Dr Ranj gives Deep an echocardiogram, a type of scan which lets him check that Deep's heart is working as it should be.

We are on the look out for someone amazing to join our team as a Youth Support Officer. ❤

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real and lasting difference to young people with congenital heart disease and their siblings in helping to further enhance and develop our new youth programme.

The successful candidate will work as part of a small team, responsible for delivering our youth support programme, including organising and delivering regional events, residentials, workshops and outreach services.

We are committed to promoting equality of opportunity and welcome applications from all sections of the community. We particularly encourage applications from males, as they are currently underrepresented in our workforce. All appointments will be made based on merit.

London Marathon here we come!

It's time to meet our third and final runner - JON RICHENS 🏃‍♂️
Jon will be running the iconic London Marathon this weekend in support of Children’s Heartbeat Trust.

He has been inspired by his grandson, Teddy who was born in August 2023 with congenital heart disease and has already undergone two life-saving heart surgeries.

In total, Teddy spent 131 days in hospital between the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children and CHI in Dublin.

Throughout this incredibly difficult time, we provided vital support to Teddy’s parents – Rebecca (Jon's daughter) and William, helping them through long hospital stays with emotional, practical and financial support.

Now Jon is running the London Marathon to say thank you and to help ensure that we can continue supporting children like Teddy and their families when they need it most.

Join us in wishing Jon the very best of luck!❤

If you would like to support Jon, you can make a donation to his page below:

Last year, we were very lucky to work with the team at QUB Media Lab who voluntarily used their expertise to build a virtual tour of Clark Clinic.

Through informal feedback, we know this has been a massive support to local heart families who have never stayed on Clark Clinic, to help familiarise themselves with the sights and sounds of the ward before they are faced with an admission. Families have told us the tour has been of particular support to siblings, helping them to visualise where their brother or sister is when they are staying in hospital.

Aaron Tasker-Lynch, one of the team behind the tour, is asking for adults (aged 18+) to take part in an evaluation of the tour and he would really like as many heart families as possible to take part.

Your input is so important and will help to improve a support resource for local heart families. 🫶

Taking part involves:
• Viewing the virtual tour (~10 minutes)
• Completing an anonymous survey (~10-15 minutes)

❤South Down Family Group❤

We have a new local heart family group in South Down and welcome local families to join.

Our groups are parent-led and are free to local families who have a child or young person with congenital heart disease. Each group is activity based and a great way to meet other local families who understand the ups, downs and in-betweens of all things CHD, all whilst having a fun, family day out at the same time!

If you would like to find out more about our South Down group please contact either group leader Serena (077 6304 6777) or Maeve (078 2142 1381). They would love to hear from you.
