Sorry we forgot to post last week after our Express Yourself Social Cafe but we were so full of cake for Barbara's birthday. We started our first session in partnership with the Playhouse Derry for the 'That's Powerful' Projects. We'll be working with artist Indigo learning about our rights and making art! We can't wait to show you what we are making!! This day 20 years ago The Black Box opened it's doors for the first time.

Since 2006, this space has held more than just gigs and shows.
We've celebrated weddings and marked funerals. We've watched people fall in love, celebrate life, find their people and find their voice.
We've laughed, we've cried and we've stood together.

From first time performers to internationally renowned artists, from late nights to quiet moments over a cup of tea, this place has always been about the people, the art, and celebrating what it means to create together.

Along the way, The Black Box has become a intrinsic part of Belfast's cultural ecosystem, supporting thousands of artists annually, and has provided a vital platform for alternative, experimental, and beautifully weird work that might not have found a home anywhere else.

Not bad for a wee room with big ideas.

If you'd like to come celebrate with us, we'll be in the Green Room this Thursday 30th April from 5pm. We'd love you to join us, share your memories and raise a glass together.
