September is Myopia Action Month

September is Myopia Action Month.
Short-sightedness, Myopia, is on the rise with children becoming short sighted much younger than before. By 2050, it is estimated that half of the global population will be myopic.
We are passionate about helping children not only see clearly but also protecting their long term eye health. The good news is that there are now several scientifically proven ways to slow Myopia progression such as special lenses for glasses and Night Lenses which we have been fitting in Carryduff for 20 years .

Why does this matter?
Myopia is caused by the eye getting longer which can cause stretching of the retina making it more fragile and more prone to retinal tears and detachments. Acting early really can make a difference.

What can you do?
☆Encourage outside play aiming for atleast 2 hours a day outside.
☆Limit prolonged near work on screens
☆Book regular eye exams for your child, even if they do not complain about their vision. We normally see children annually and they get their exam paid for them until they are 19 if still in full time education.
☆Give Vitamin D supplements

You can really feel the quality in these frames and not all are very chunky but all have the signature T trim on the front. Really gorgeous.
