We’ve been asked to produce a duplicate denture using stock trays and putty.
Step 1 – Add hardener to the putty and mix thoroughly. Press the putty into an upper stock tray and smooth the surface.
Step 2 – Place the denture into the tray with the teeth facing down, pressing it into the putty until it reaches the periphery.
Step 3 – Allow the putty to fully harden, then apply Vaseline as a separating medium.
Step 4 – Mix a second batch of putty and hardener. Apply this over the fitting surface of the denture until fully covered, then place a lower tray on top to allow the moulds to separate later.
Step 5 – Once set, carefully separate the moulds and remove the denture.
Step 6 – Cut channels into the mould using a Stanley knife to allow wax to be poured for the duplicate.
This will create a two-part mould ready for duplicating the denture in wax.
