On Monday, we were asked to attend a Stand Down Day being held by Amey for their staff based here in Northern Ireland. It was a create opportunity to chat to attendees about addiction as well as the services Dunlewey provide in their local area. We had some worthwhile conversations with individuals especially when they had the opportunity to try on the Alcohol and Drug goggles!

Representatives from Dunlewey addiction services attended an event in Stormont on Childhood Adversity and Homelessness in Northern Ireland: Breaking the Cycle

Learning about new research by the on the links between childhood and adult adversity and homelessness.
Listen and learning from a panel of Experts by Experience talk about the changes they want to see.
Taking part in discussions on how we can work together to break the cycle of homelessness.
We were delighted and humbled to attend this event, to deepen our understanding of the journeys that lead to homelessness and how we can prevent it for those most at risk.

Dunlewey Addiction Services along with were delighted to facilitate a 6 week therapeutic photography course with the residents of Belfast’s women only hostel Catherine house.

Creating a safe creative space to explore the complexities of homelessness and addiction through the power of photography.

The exhibition was inspiring and emotive to see what the ladies had achieved.

The exhibition is open to the public at Belfast exposed from Thursday the 25th of September to the 25th of October 25.

This is an eye opening exhibition that is thought evoking and an opportunity to witness life through the eyes of the ladies first hand.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Belfast Exposed for facilitating and the ladies of Catherine House for inviting us into their world and allowing us the opportunity to hear and see their stories
