This is what happens when you get someone to deliver first aid training who is not a certified instructor.

Poor-quality first aid training doesn’t just create bad habits—it can directly impact patient survival.

As a certified instructor / assessor I’ve witnessed examples of incorrect CPR hand placement and outdated AED pad positioning being taught, both of which fall outside current clinical guidelines.

When choosing a provider, it’s essential to verify that instructors are qualified, actively maintaining CPD, and delivering courses regulated or aligned with recognised organisations such as Ofqual, the Resuscitation Council UK, or the European Resuscitation Council.

A recognised brand name alone is not enough—always check the credentials behind the training.

Course commencing 6th May from 09:00-15:30 at our Newtownards training centre.

The Immediate Life Support (ILS) course is a one-day training program developed by the Resuscitation Council UK for healthcare professionals to manage patients in cardiac arrest and treat deteriorating patients until a resuscitation team arrives.

It focuses on practical skills, including CPR, defibrillation, and the ABCDE approach.

Some companies may not recognize certain first aid certifications because they require training that is specifically accredited by external, officially regulated awarding bodies (such as Ofqual or SQA).
