👶🏼 Ella and Joe’s Baby Shower 👶🏼

This afternoon we had the honour of hosting a bay shower for our wonderful gardener and friend Ella, it was lovely to have her husband Joe join too. Alongside both of their Mums.

We had fun in the cream lounge, playing games.
Hilda won guessing the size of Ella’s bump.
We played pass the parcel, had a nursery rhyme quiz and played a Mr/Mrs, Mum and Dad style game. We had so much fun.

We then headed into the dining room for buffet tea, with Ellas favourite scones and pink cupcakes.

We’re all so excited for baby Hague to arrive and wish Ella, Joe and bump a lifetime of health, happiness and love.

Thank you for allowing us to share this special occasion with you all.

We’ve had a wonderful morning with our Pre School friends, who stayed longer today to enable us to have a variety of activities and celebrate Sir David Attenborough turning 100!

We created a collage using items collected within our garden and a few bits of tissue paper.
We went outside to do some bird watching.
We read stories with animals in.
We also talked a lot about Sir David and all the great things he has done for our natural world.

We’ve had a fantastic day at Peak Rail we boarded the train at Rowsley and did two journeys to Matlock and back.

We ate our picnic on board which was made by the super Sonia. The cupcakes were beautiful, great work Aman. Brilliant banquet by our fabulous kitchen team. Thank you, ladies.

There was lots of conversation about the scenery and passed times on a train. We had a sing along and Dave even squeezed in a game of cards.

Massive thanks to our volunteer team and staff at Holbrook Hall who supported this outing. It’s great to get our residents out and about, your help in enabling this means so much.

Last week our residents were chatting about carnations and that they haven’t seen them for a while.

So, off we trotted to Morrisons to pick some up for them to arrange in vases.

It was lovely to stand back and watch everyone create their own vases and support one another at the same time.

We look forward to seeing them come into full bloom.

Hunter and Sue visited us this week.

As you can see Huntercreated a lot of smiles and enjoyed lots of cuddles.

Hunter is trained to visit our residents in the way they so wish, he understands that some just like to say hello, where others enjoy a full cuddle and a sloppy kiss on occasions.

Sue absolutely loves to chat to our residents and catch up with their lives.

A wonderful dream team.

We’d like to introduce you to our new neighbours.

Our residents have loved seeing them when they’ve been out and about up the driveway this week.

They’ve created so much joy within our home and we’re so thankful to the farmer for placing them in the fields for us to enjoy.

Nikki and Charles go above and beyond to bring happiness, fun and laughter into our home and we’ve all had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon with them both.

We’ve been singing and dancing. Claire and Clive even had the opportunity to join the pink ladies and t-birds.

The smiles on the faces of our residents and willingness to join in says it all.

This morning we headed off to Croots Farm
Shop in Duffield.

If anyone was visiting there today, we’re sure they’d call us the inners and outers.
We were outside then inside and then in and out, in and out . The great British weather wasn’t quite warm enough, but our residents wanted to test it just to make sure.

We all sampled a lovely cuppa, the lattes got great reviews.

Then it was time to head and do a bit of shopping, who doesn’t love a bit of retail therapy. Plus, they had pork pie on the sample tray - we highly recommend this!

Massive thanks to our volunteers Lisa, Cheryl and Alan - none of this would be possible without you and our lovely Shelley who was able to escape the office to join the fun today.
