The saddest of news but a big thank you to everyone who loved her enough to send a card. Message from Amelia’s mum tonight.

My dear ones…

I’m writing this with a pain that words cannot describe… 💔
Today at 5:00 PM, our beloved, bravest little warrior – Amelia – passed away… She has put on her angel wings 🕊️

She is no longer suffering. She is no longer in pain. She is in a place where everything is beautiful, peaceful, and full of light…

For nearly 6 years, she fought with a strength beyond imagination. Every single day, she showed us what true courage looks like. She showed the whole world that even the smallest heart can hold the greatest power.
And that love – pure, unconditional love – truly overcomes everything…

Our dearest Amelia, you were and always will be our greatest miracle. Our heart. Our light…
Thank you for every moment, every smile, every glance… for the love you taught us.

This is not goodbye… it’s “see you again,” our little Angel 💔🕊️

☘️ Happy St Patrick’s Day from all at Bankwood☘️

What a fantastic day we’ve had celebrating in true Irish style 🇮🇪💚
From the moment the day began, the home was full of colour, laughter and a wonderful atmosphere as residents and staff came together wearing green and fun Irish-themed accessories 🍀

Our home and dining areas looked fantastic with decorations put up and tables beautifully dressed, creating the perfect setting for everyone to enjoy the day ✨

A big highlight was our delicious Irish stew, which went down an absolute treat 🍲 followed by a homemade Guinness cake for afters – kindly made by Jack our chef 👨‍🍳🍰 It was safe to say there were lots of empty plates and happy faces!
Some of our residents even enjoyed tasting a little Guinness, which added to the authentic Irish experience 🍺

Throughout the day, we filled the home with the sound of traditional Irish music 🎶 which had toes tapping and smiles all around. There were plenty of laughs too, especially when Ella, our Activities Coordinator, bravely attempted to master an Irish jig… with what can only be described as a memorable (but not quite successful!) performance 😂😂

We also enjoyed a St Patrick’s quiz, where everyone shared their knowledge and learned some interesting facts about the history and traditions behind the day 📚 It was lovely to see such great participation and engagement from everyone.

Most importantly, it was a day filled with joy, togetherness and making special memories 💚

We all had a lovely creative session making get well wishes cards for a couple of our friends. 💌✨

Everyone enjoyed getting involved, choosing colours, adding little drawings and writing kind messages.
It was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon, sharing smiles, creativity and a little bit of love to brighten someone’s day. 💖🎨

We hope our cards bring a big smile and help them feel better soon! 🌈

Eyes down for a couple of games of bingo this afternoon! 👀🎉
Another firm favourite with our residents, full of laughter, excitement and of course the famous bingo calls. Whether it’s two little ducks – 22 🦆🦆 or two fat ladies – 88 👯, we definitely know the bingo lingo!

A lovely time spent together with plenty of smiles, friendly competition and a few lucky winners too. Bingo never fails to bring everyone together! 💛🎱

This afternoon we had a little change to our usual bingo and played Card Bingo ♠️♥️♣️♦️

We had several games throughout the afternoon and there was lots of fun, laughter and a little bit of friendly competition too! Everyone had a great time and it was lovely to see so many smiles around the room 😊

Activities like this are a great way to keep minds active while enjoying time together. Well done to all our winners today! 🎉

💗✨ Community Support Needed – Let’s Help Amelia Reach Her Wish ✨💗

Hi everyone,

We are reaching out to our wonderful local community to help make a very special little girl’s wish come true.

Amelia turns 8 on 10th March, and sadly she won’t see her 9th birthday. Her final wish is to achieve a record with Guinness World Records – and her incredible goal is to receive 8,000 birthday cards! 💌🎂

Her record attempt will be officially verified on the day, and every single card counts towards her total.

We at Bankwood will be helping to support this and we would also love for others in our local community to also get involved, All we need is a birthday card for Amelia. Once written, please take it Morrisons in Ilkeston and leave your card at the kiosk for collection.

Let’s show Amelia just how big-hearted our community truly is and help her reach that amazing target of 8,000 cards! 💕

If you feel you can help, please do. Every card will make a difference.

It’s been a tough start to the week at Bankwood Care Home as we’ve been managing an outbreak, but as always, Team Bankwood have pulled together and supported one another every step of the way 💪❤️

Despite the challenges, we’ve still made sure our residents have enjoyed some lovely moments. We’ve had a few one-to-one games 🎲, some well-deserved pampering with manicures and make up 💅💄, and even a bit of football fun and plenty of laughter on the tiny tablet ⚽📱😂

So proud of our amazing team for keeping spirits high and smiles shining ✨

What a truly special and heartwarming Valentine's day it was for everyone at Bankwood ❤️

We celebrated Valentine’s Day with a beautiful afternoon tea, and what an afternoon it was! The lounge was filled with laughter, chatter and the smell of freshly prepared sweet treats. Residents gathered together to enjoy a delicious selection of sandwiches, cakes and tasty goodies, all presented so beautifully ☕🍰🍓

There was so much joy around the room – reminiscing about past Valentine’s Days, sharing stories, enjoying one another’s company and simply soaking up the lovely atmosphere. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and were truly amazed by the effort that had gone into it. Their faces were a picture – full of smiles, surprise and happiness 🥰💝

A huge thank you to our fantastic kitchen team for their incredible hard work in preparing such a wonderful spread, and to every single member of staff who helped create such a warm, loving and memorable afternoon for our residents. It really was a team effort, and the love was definitely shared by all 💕

Moments like these are what make Bankwood so special 💖

Thursday mornings at Bankwood are full of energy and smiles as our residents take part in Burns Gym sessions hosted by two wonderful Scottish gentlemen who bring so much enthusiasm and encouragement! 🏴💪

These chair-based exercises are specially designed for seniors, making them safe, supportive and accessible for everyone. It’s always amazing to see how fun and engaging the sessions are – so much concentration, determination, and plenty of laughter too. 😊✨

A fantastic way to keep moving, build strength, and boost wellbeing while enjoying time together. We’re so proud of everyone who takes part! 👏💙

There’s been so much laughter, smiles, and happiness around the home — our residents are so proud and happy to see their wonderful creations put on display for all to see 🥰✨

🎄✨ A very special evening at Bankwood tonight! ✨🎄

Tonight we were delighted to welcome a wonderful group of young girls who came along to sing beautiful Christmas carols for our residents. 🎶❤️
The atmosphere was full of joy, with smiles all around. The children looked absolutely beautiful, dressed in their amazing Christmas outfits, and the dancing was a real highlight — full of energy, confidence and festive cheer! 💃🎄 Their parents must be incredibly proud of them. 🥰

Our residents and staff loved every moment, and to make the evening even more festive, the residents enjoyed a drink of advocaat and lemonade to make a classic Christmas snowball. 🍹❄️

A truly heart-warming evening that brought everyone together. Thank you to the young girls for bringing so much Christmas joy into our home — beautiful memories to cherish. ⭐🎅
