This was a year ago, sadly since then more have got in our boat we continue to row harder to keep them afloat. X
I had a few errands to do this morning. As I sat down on the nearby chair, waiting for the information I needed, a man was sitting in another chair. He looked up, caught my eye, and we exchanged a smile. Without hesitation, he began to speak, his voice tinged with a mix of sadness and wisdom.

"Life isn't easy," he said, "We've lost our son." I knew exactly what he meant. I'd walked that painful path myself.

Twelve years ago, I'd lost my own daughter, and the ache still lingers. We talked for a while, sharing stories and memories of our loved ones. The man's words poured out like a dam breaking, and I listened intently, offering words of comfort when I could.

As we spoke, We laughed, and for a brief moment, the weight of our pain felt a little lighter. When it was time for us to leave, we walked out together and stood talking on the pavement for a little longer and wished each other well

As we walked away, I smiled, feeling a sense of solidarity with this stranger-turned-friend. Our chance encounter had reminded me that even in the darkest moments, others are rowing the same boat, and as more parents sadley join our boat, we will row harder to help them keep a float in their hardest days of grief 💙 💗
