Stop DIY Exercises – Why Youtube Exercises Can Make You Worse
Most people search Google, YouTube, or ask a friend what exercise to do for their pain.
But here’s the problem:
What helps one person can seriously harm another.
In this video, I explain why copying exercises online can be dangerous — especially if you haven’t been properly examined.
If you’ve been told:
• “Just stretch it”
• “Do this for sciatica”
• “This fixed my back pain”
• “This is the best exercise for a slipped disc”
You need to watch this.
The right exercise depends on:
– The exact tissue involved
– The phase of recovery
– Whether inflammation is present
– The true cause of the nerve irritation
For example, sciatica from a disc herniation requires completely different management than piriformis syndrome — and doing the wrong thing at the wrong stage can make you worse.
I never prescribe “the one perfect exercise” online because without assessment, it’s just guessing.
If you’re in pain, don’t guess.
Get assessed.
