We were delighted to welcome two beautiful twin sister donkeys, owned by T Cribb & Sons, to Godden Lodge in December and they truly stole everyone’s hearts.

We made sure every resident had the chance to meet them, including those relaxing in their bedrooms, bringing smiles, laughter and plenty of gentle cuddles all round. The donkeys were an absolute credit to their owners, staying calm, friendly and patient throughout three hours of fuss and affection.

A huge thank you to T Cribb & Sons for giving our residents such a memorable and joyful experience — it really meant the world to everyone involved. 💛

We were delighted to welcome Tickled Pink to Godden Lodge for a fantastic Christmas show 🎄✨

Residents were joined by their family and friends on our Cephas Community Unit to enjoy the performance, which was wonderfully interactive and full of festive fun. Other community units also joined in, making it a lovely shared experience for everyone.

Keeping everyone well this winter

As flu levels rise during the winter months, we’re taking sensible steps to help protect the people living and working in our care homes.

We’re also grateful for the small things families and visitors can do to help - like staying away if unwell, washing hands on arrival, and considering a flu vaccination.

We were delighted to welcome The Beacon Church to Godden Lodge for a lovely Christmas service and hymn singing with our residents 🎄✨

Residents from across the home joined together to listen to the service and sing hymns, creating a calm and meaningful afternoon that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. After the service, members of the church spent time chatting with residents and wishing everyone a very happy Christmas.

We’re also pleased to share that The Beacon Church will now be visiting us every month to hold a service — something our residents are very much looking forward to 🧡

Last Saturday, we hosted a lovely indoor Christmas Market on one of our units, giving residents the chance to enjoy a proper shopping experience without needing to travel.

For many of our residents, going out shopping isn’t always possible, so it was wonderful to see them browsing stalls, choosing cards, gifts and clothes for themselves and their loved ones — all in the comfort of the home.

A huge thank you to Stibbards Funeral Home for kindly donating a beautiful fresh Christmas tree, and to our relatives and local community who supported the day with stalls and a raffle. The generosity shown was outstanding, as always.

Residents had a truly special time, and we’ve already raised £400 and counting! Several residents shared how meaningful it was to be able to buy Christmas gifts for their families.

A magical day filled with kindness, community and festive cheer. 💛🎄

We had great fun celebrating Christmas Jumper Day in support of Save the Children!
