Lovely online taster session last night! So nice that people are still finding me despite my radio silence on the socials.

As a reminder, I offer a free introduction to Hypnobirthing on the second Tuesday of every month (you can sign up via my website).

I'm working mainly 1-2-1 these days, Mon - Fri 9 - 4.

My Essentials Course is proving really popular, yet my full 12 hour course is still filling the diary.

Life has found a new balance. The children are growing up, my mother is nearby, I'm studying again (something I swore I'd never do!), and life is evolving at a pace I'm trying to keep steady.

I remain here. In person - less so on the internet. If you need any support, please reach out.

I remember when I first realised that birth isn’t just something that ‘happens’ to you—it’s something you CAN prepare for, just like any big event in life. And honestly, that changed everything! 💡

Hypnobirthing taught me how to work with my body, stay calm, and actually feel confident about birth (yes, really!), regardless of what was thrown at me.

If you're feeling nervous or unsure, just know—there is SO much you can do to help prepare for a positive birth, however that may look, and I can help.

Whether you're looking for in-person or online support, let's have a chat and plan your way to your better birth. xx

Over the last few months, my landscape has changed a little.

New priorities and commitments have emerged.

I adore my birth work more than I can possibly explain.

So I'm not going anywhere.

Moving forward I'm going to be working with my clients Mon - Fri between 9.30 & 4.30 teaching in person and online.

Clients can choose between my 12 hr Complete Hypnobirthing & Confident Birth Course, 6 hr Essentials Course, Bespoke Birth Coaching by the hour, and the 3-Step Rewind Process, all on a private basis.

Group courses will be run on Fridays on request.

To find out more or have a chat about your options, drop me a line and let's talk.

I'm ready to make your birth better - are you?

✨ What is a Birth Board - And How Do I Create One? ✨

Birth boards can be a really helpful tool when it comes to adjusting your subconscious and preparing for your birth.

Typically comprising images, quotes and affirmations that make you feel positive about the idea of giving birth and get that oxytocin flowing, this tool doesn't have to be complicated, just YOURS.

By displaying the board in a prominent place in your home and regularly noticing it, you can reinforce positive associations with birth. This helps to reduce fear and anxiety and cultivate a sense of calm and confidence.

During labour, the birth board can serve as a visual anchor, helping you to focus on your breathing, relaxation techniques, and positive affirmations.

This won't be for everyone but some of us are more visual - if that's you - read on!

Here's how to get started (get your Blue Peter on!):

💛Gather your inspiration:
Collect images, quotes, and affirmations that represent your ideal birth or evoke happy calm, loving OXYTOCIN INDUCING feelings.
Think about how you want to feel, who you want to support you, and what words resonate with you.

💛Focus on the positive:
Focus on the birth you want to have, rather than dwelling on fears.

💛Consider baby's position: Include visuals of baby in the optimal birthing position (head down, back towards your spine).

💛Create your board: Get creative! Use photos, magazine clippings, drawings, and inspirational quotes.

💛Display it prominently: Place your board where you'll see it often to reinforce your thoughts, feelings and beliefs.

💛Remember: Your birth board is a personal expression. There are no right or wrong ways to create it. Let your creativity flow and enjoy the process!

'They've told me I will be induced'

'They are going to induce me'

'I've got to be induced'

'They wont' let me go over'

STOP.

PLEASE remember your autonomy!

This is not an anti-induction post, it's a pro-research, pro-choice, pro-options, pro-education post.

Sometimes there is a really good reason for suggesting induction.

Sometimes you may feel differently and having done the research be comfortable declining - as is your right and as is outlined in the NICE Guidelines (comprehensive documents that provide recommendations on the best practice for the NHS) on Inducing Labour.

If you're having a conversation with your health care professional about Inducing your labour I highly recommend having a look at these guidelines which can be found at https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ng207/.

AIMS Guide to Induction of Labour (Dr Nadia Higson)

In Your Own Time (Dr Sara Wickham)

Anyone else?

With a limited birth education in my first pregnancy, I expected hospital, epidural, baby.

What I didn't anticipate was that when I went into labour, I wasn't ready to go into hospital, and when I did get into hospital I didn't want to lie down.

When I got into the birth pool (which I had absolutely no prior intention of using but given I had been allocated a pool room it seemed like a good idea) I felt huge relief BUT I had nothing to help me through my contractions.

I didn't want to get out of the pool because the water was gooooooood but the gas and air wasn't cutting it and I began to lose it.

If I wanted something stronger I had to 'hop onto the bed' - which, at the time, I had absolutely no desire to do.

So I was a bit stuck.

What I could have done with was some education on what was happening inside my body so I could better understand what was I was feeling.

What I could have done with was tools and techniques to help me remain calm and manage the intensity of my contractions.

What I could have done with was a completely different mindset that rather than make me fear birth, let me TRUST it.

What I could have done with was a birth partner equipped with all sorts of ways to help me access the deep state of relaxation that would in turn help me with all the above.

I wouldn't class my first birth as traumatic but it was ill-informed, chaotic and out of control.

Second time, I learned about physiological birth and what both my birth partner and I could do to best support physiological labour and birth, I didn't want the drugs.

The gas and air took the edge off in the final stages when I needed it but with everything I'd learned and practised through Hypnobirthing (hindsight is a wonderful thing) the idea of opioids or an epidural didn't cross my mind before or during my labour.

Let me stress, I'm not anti-drugs, but knowing all your options and informed choices are key!

But if you think there's a chance you may not want 'all the drugs', stack the odds in your favour and give me a call.

Off to see a client in London today. 💂

All those years ago when naming my business I perhaps wasn’t thinking about going beyond my home county.

What I hadn’t anticipated was the value of word of mouth and how you, as a person, as a teacher and coach are what really matters.

Five years later my work and courses have evolved from my more rigid training and now truly reflect what I know MY clients need and want to know.

And so increasingly I am asked to work with clients further afield who have heard about me through their friends.

Increasingly my work is taking place during normal working hours like everyone else because people see the value of taking some time out to work with someone who has come recommended.

Increasingly I’m working online with clients who are a little harder to reach (Scotland, USA, Australia & Mainland Europe thus far).

Increasingly I’m adapting courses to suit my clients particular needs and working as a coach rather than teacher.

Interested in working with me but got some questions. Drop me a line and let’s have a chat!

Such a lovely Essentials course today. With one poorly couple we had a hybrid of online and in person attendance but it was still such a lovely and engaging day. We ended on a labour timeline game to revise the days learnings and fill in any gaps. They nailed it!
