The guidelines don’t account for the maths 👇

Average age of menopause 45-55yrs
Average duration of permenopause 2-8yrs
But CAN last 10+ yrs

Most women will experience perimenopause in their 40s

For MANY of us perimenopause symptoms start in our 30s

⏱️35-50 is a POWERFUL window of OPPORTUNITY

Get the right support and these decades can feel like your BEST YET

Lay the foundations now and enjoy strength, clarity, energy with better health & independence long into our futures.

Early symptoms look like
🥺anxiety
😴 poor sleep
😡 mood changes
😶‍🌫️ a fog descending
😣 fatigue, exhaustion

‼️Do not be afraid to keep pushing to get the help and support you deserve

There is NO SUCH THING as TOO YOUNG to pay attention to your hormone health and take action.

⛔️you DO NOT need to wait for periods to stop or symptoms to be catastrophic before considering Hormone Therapy

With proactive holistic support you can feel calm, clear and in control.

A 2026 Clinical Review just validated what women have known and experienced for years.

Weight gain & body composition changes in perimenopause are common. But not inevitable.

Understanding why your body is changing is the first step.

Getting the right support specific to you is a great next step. Particularly if you’ve already tried everything and feel confused by all the noise.

Things we know work:

💪  Lift weights
Resistance training is the single most effective intervention for body composition at this life stage. It rebuilds muscle, boosts metabolic rate, and reduces visceral fat.

🥩  Eat enough protein
Target 1.2–1.6 g per kg body weight daily. Protein preserves muscle, increases satiety, and supports metabolic function. Most women eat far less than this.

💊  Consider HRT
Oestrogen therapy is associated with reduced visceral fat accumulation and improved insulin sensitivity. HRT is weight-neutral — but it supports healthier fat distribution.

😴  Protect your sleep
Poor sleep elevates cortisol and disrupts hunger hormones — making everything else harder. Sleep is not optional at this stage. It is metabolic medicine.

At The Menopause Medic, we offer specialist consultations, HRT and testosterone therapy, and medical weight loss support, online or in-person to help you feel clear and back in control.

Save this to refer back to when things are feeling tough and share to anyone else who needs to see and understand this too.

Two things can be true at the same time. ✌️

Perimenopause can be a powerful, clarifying transition and one of the hardest things you’ve ever navigated.

The conversation online tends to go one of two ways — suffer in silence, or ascend to your higher self.

Both leave a lot of women feeling like they’re doing it wrong.

And you don’t have to choose.

If you’re somewhere in the middle — not catastrophising, not yet thriving, just trying to figure out what’s actually going on — swipe through. This one’s for you.

Evidence-based. Realistic. On your side.

🔁 Share this with someone who needs to hear it.
💬 Comment QUIZ and I’ll send you our 4-minute quiz to see whether a conversation with one of our specialist team could help.

Get • Your body is wise. Tuning-in is imperative.
She will keep calling until you pay attention.

🏳️Your symptoms are powerful signals from your internal environment that things are changing.

✅ Taking action is non-negotiable but impossible without recognition.

⚖️Your hormones are part of a complex and fascinating internal communication system working hard to maintain equilibrium, homeostasis, balance

🎛️ The ovarian hormones are fundamental to this system exerting potent regulatory effects from our brains to our bones and everything in between.

📉As ovarian egg-numbers decline over time, hormone production changes and the regulatory effect changes: the brakes come off.

In surgical & medical menopause and POI this shift is abrupt.

So, We may need to do things differently to provide the support our changing body needs to keep working her magic ✨

Things that WILL help:
💤 prioritise your sleep
🥑 nourish your body - don’t punish
🏃‍♀️move, exercise, play
🌳get out in nature, breathe
🧘‍♀️make self-care non-negotiable
😌 protect your energy & boundaries
🤝 make time for connection & conversation
💬 don’t be afraid to ask for help
💊 consider your medical options (eg hormone therapy)

Please share this powerful message - we have more control than we think but often need space to listen and prioritise our needs.

Follow along for more relatable, actionable, evidenced based info (without the hype & hyperbole) from a Specialist Menopause Doctor on this perimenopause rollercoaster with you ✨

To the partners who want to understand — this one’s for you. 🤍

Perimenopause isn’t just a women’s health topic. It lives in our relationships, the bedroom and in the kitchen at 7pm when everything feels like too much.

I made this carousel for the women who don’t know how to start this conversation, and for the partners who genuinely want to show up but don’t know where to begin.

Swipe through. Save it. Send it to the person who sleeps beside you.

You don’t have to have all the answers. You just have to be willing to understand.

The RCPsych’s new menopause & mental health position statement confirms what I see in clinic every week:

Women being treated for depression when the root cause may be hormonal.

This isn’t anti-antidepressants. It’s pro-getting-the-full-picture.

Save this. Share it.

It could change someone’s life. 💙

My passion is that women in midlife aren’t left bewildered & powerless but informed and in control.

Handle with care ❤️

I wouldn’t mind but I haven’t had alcohol in a long time and still wake up like I have a hangover.

Who’s with me 🙋🏼‍♀️

For most of my 20s and 30s I honestly believe I was in survival mode…recovering from stress, burnout, perfectionism, pregnancies and post-natal depression. Then Perimenopause hit.

Understanding what was happening, learning the self-compassion I needed to repair, basking in the support of friends, family and a network of other women going through similar has been a truly empowering experience and I can honestly say, I’m no longer just surviving.

I have learned who I am. I love her and am no longer afraid to be her.
Heart on sleeve.

I’ve learned to say yes, even when things feel hard or new. I’ve also learned to say no to protect myself too.

I’ve trusted my instincts, sought answers and in doing found my power to thrive again.

Wherever you are on your journey, you have got this. Listen to your body, your inner voice, your instincts and I hope you can find a way to embrace the changes and come out thriving too.
