Crabtree Therapy

Crabtree Therapy I'm a therapist holding a space for overwhelmed and anxious women If you're wondering if that's you then the following questions might help:
1.

Do you have a tendency to feel frazzled by life, rushing from one obligation to the next?
2. Do you hate saying no to people but are tired of saying yes?
3. Do you feel resentful of the drain on your time (and does that make you feel
guilty)?
4. Does the idea of conflict feel awkward and uncomfortable? If you've answered yes to any of those questions, then let's connect!

Valentine’s Day is overly commercial, who needs a day to show love?

My take on the Hallmark Holiday for a long time - anyone else?

But over the years, I’ve softened 🥰

♥️ Why wouldn’t I take the opportunity for connection with the people I love?

♥️ Why wouldn’t I try and brighten up their day and make their eyes shine?

♥️ Why wouldn’t I extend that love to myself?

These 3 pictures are the ways I’m choosing to acknowledge Valentine’s Day this year:

1. Early morning coffee, with a side serving of chocolate, for my husband (he politely declined to eat it so early)

2. Cute chocolate for my daughter (she’ll have eaten it before the bus gets to school)

3. A walk and coffee for me with a wonderful lifelong friend

It’s so easy to feel trapped by our lives, that Hallmark has sold us a version of life that’s not real and it can feel so disappointing.

But maybe we can take the opportunity to shift our perspective…this IS what life looks like and we can seize it and add more joy to it!

One of the focuses of my new programme will be finding ways to create moments of connection and opportunities to ignite the spark in your life.

Because that’s it’s all about, not just today but every day 😊

Drop a ♥️in the comments if you’d like to know more.

If people are going to judge, and let’s face it they are, I would so love for women to be judged on all the boring but necessary work we achieve.

Most women do this without even thinking, it’s the invisible load of life and it often falls to us.

It would save an enormous amount of unnecessary heartache for so many women.

Can you relate?

In the words of the to ledgers Roy Walker, ‘say what you see’!

This is a homemade Rorschach inkblot test.

It’s one of the creative ways I work with women to help them discover the unknown parts of their psyche.

By discussing what we see in the inkblot it can help us to better understand the patterns that our brain naturally seeks.

Everyone will see something different and it will hold different meaning for each of us.

What do you see? Let me know in the comments ⬇️⬇️⬇️

💫 Sometimes it’s hard to know that you need to ground yourself in the present moment.

💫 Learning to recognise when you’re overwhelmed is the starting point.

💫I encourage my clients to start by taking a moment every hour to take a few seconds to ask how they are feeling.

💫 Soon a pattern becomes clear and they naturally start to use the grounding technique to come back into their own bodies.

💫 This is an activation of the parasympathetic nervous system that helps us to move from ruminating on the past or the fture and land in the present.

💫 Depression and axiety often stem from worrying about what you did wrong or what you might do wrong.

This technique comes from and was taught to me by Katie 🥰

I wrote about this in my newsletter last week and it inspired me to reflect back on the last 6 years and why having hobbies has meant so much to me.

My newsletter is for women who struggle to manage the mental load of family life.My aim is to normalise this for women so that you realise you’re not alone, that this is an almost universal struggle and that there are things you can do about it. I give hints and tips on how to have those difficult conversations with your partner and how to feel more seen in your relationship.

It goes out weekly on a Friday and you can get your copy this week by clicking here: subscribepage.io/crabtreetherapy

Wow, what a weekend! On Saturday, I was privileged to host the Crabtree therapy autumn retreat.

So immersed in the process that I only managed to capture a couple of photos of the day!

Coming together with a group of inspiring women. All different but with the same purpose: to let go of responsibility and to give themselves permission to put themselves first, just for one day.

So we came together and slowed with the gorgeous Newbarn Farm as our backdrop.

We spent the day, relaxing in the vineyard and wandering through the meadow with the bees and chickens surrounding us.

We came together to learn and separated to relax, each taking the space that we needed, just for us.

We were fortunate to be supported, by number of wonderful people. Enormous thanks go to:

wine

And the biggest thank you to the women who trusted that this would be a safe and containing space for them to find some time for themselves in their normally busy lives. It was a pleasure to spend the day with you.

Can you imagine having the opportunity to escape for a day to a serene haven nestled in a picturesque corner of the Buckinghamshire countryside?

The leaves of our organic vineyard will just been turning to their stunning autumn colours and here you’ll immerse yourself in the tranquillity of a retreat designed exclusively to cater for the needs of busy women like yourself.

Mark your calendar for Saturday 16th September, a day of nurturing dedicated entirely to you.

It’ll be a moment when we can say goodbye to the frenzy of summer, the juggle of work and school holidays, and embrace the comfort of autumn — the season of rediscovering our rhythms and routines.

Imagine if you could look forward to 16th September as your personal ‘New Year.’

This retreat invites you to pause, explore and uncover what brings you genuine joy and nourishment.

Picture yourself emerging from the day feeling refreshed and armed with a renewed sense of clarity and purpose. You'll feel revitalised, invigorated, and with a clear vision of what truly matters to you.

Is it time you made an investment in you?

Something to savour and anticipate during the next few months?

Do you feel like you are on the treadmill from the minute you wake up until the minute you go to bed?

Do you feel like you’ve got 2 full on jobs? Your paid job and being responsible for everything at home?

My mum worked really hard bring up 6 kids, but, like lots of her generation, she didn’t go out to work, her work was in the home.

But this has changed!

Did you know that 72% of women do go out work now, and following the pandemic, it changed again.

We’re not necessarily in our places of work five days a week. So work and home have the become even more meshed together, and we are often trying to manage both at the same time.

Women often weave their business and domestic work throughout the course of the day, starting as really early before everyone else is up and not finishing until the house is quiet again in the evening. That can be super tiring 🥱

If this is you and you feel that a lot of what you do goes unnoticed, then this post is for you. I see you and I know all the effort you put in to making everyone else’s life easier 🥰

Why not share this with someone who needs to hear it?

Thre are tips for managing stress and overwhelm AND, because I know you are a rounded, whole person, not just a very busy one, I include things that I think you might enjoy listening to, reading or watching too.

I've only just started it but it's had some rave reviews so if you'd like to get on the list, then send me a message with your email address and I'll pop it on the list 🙂
