An eye examination with any of our experienced Optometrists will typically last at least 30 minutes. The health of your eye will be thoroughly examined and many medical conditions such as diabetes, glaucoma and high blood pressure can be detected meaning that much more than just your sight will be checked! We can also take a picture of the back of the eye using Ultra Wide Retinal Photography and we have an OCT machine, which scans the layers of the back of the eye. This gives you a much more in-depth view of your eye health and could save you from trips to the hospital! After your eye test, if you need a spectacle prescription, you will be passed on to one of our ABDO registered Qualified Dispensing Opticians who can guide you on what best frames and lenses will suit your individual needs. We have a very large range of spectacle and sunglass frames featuring designs such as IC Berlin, Paul and Joe, Tom Ford, Johann Von Goisern, Bolle, Serengeti and many more. When we get older our eyelids aren’t as good as spreading the tears each time we blink. Research shows that while older people blink as much as their younger counterparts, the duration and amplitude of the blinks are less.

Did you know that dry eye’s official medical name is the lengthy 'keratoconjunctivitis sicca'. Like so many of our medical words it’s Latin and literally means “dryness of the cornea and conjunctiva”. The sicca part means dry.
