Wednesday 1st October marks the UN International Day of Older People

The UK theme this year, Building Belonging, highlights the vital role social connections play in enriching lives at every age.

At Tweed Connections it is a privilege to watch friendships renew and blossom among our clients!

This is also one of the reasons why we hold our Community Drop In every Thursday. Since the Covid pandemic, feelings of isolation, particularly among the elderly, have grown substantially. We hope that by opening for the whole community on Thursdays we are able to alleviate that for even one person.

After another busy and fun filled week we are sure our staff would appreciate a relaxing hand massage! Not just the ones they give to our clients!

It's been another lovely week with our favourite activities and some delicious food to enjoy, including sausage casserole and home made quiche.

Thank you for the fantastic reception when we announced our National Lottery funding earlier this week, and introduced Helen and Laura, the ladies who made all this possible. It is much appreciated!

We are located in the Northern View community facility in Highcliffe, ample parking is available at the rear of the building and there is a bus stop close to the entrance.

A big thank you to Berwick Community Trust for including us in their local services brochure!

The Community Trust is involved in a lot of projects that you may not realise including:

Press Release: Tweed Connections awarded National Lottery funding

Tweed Connections CIC, Berwick-upon-Tweed's new day care centre for the elderly has been awarded grant funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

The grant will enable Tweed Connections to purchase additional seating and specialist equipment to better serve the local elderly community, while also contributing towards the running costs of their weekly Community Drop In.

'We are delighted that The National Lottery shares our vision for elderly care in Berwick and surrounding areas', said director and founder Helen Henderson. 'The grant will allow us to support more elderly people and their families and help us provide the best care possible'.

Tweed Connections CIC is an independent day care centre located in Highcliffe, Berwick-upon-Tweed. They provide a range of services including health and wellbeing programmes, recreational activities and excursions, assisted bathing, daily lunch and refreshments, and transportation to and from the centre.

The end of our first week of being open 4 days for day care!

And what a week it's been with new clients joining us, and new games for everyone to enjoy.

Including Curling!

A lovely activity to provide gentle exercise, and improve flexibility, circulation and coordination.

(Even if we did get a little competitive!)

The biggest thank you to everyone who came along to our Bingo and Disco fundraiser last night.

You raised over £1000 towards our Christmas activities for our wonderful clients!

A special note of thanks to Northern View Berwick for hosting the event, Shona for bingo calling, Asda for their donations and the fabulous DJ Campo for keeping us dancing.

You also raised over £500 for Berwick Stroke Club! Thank you for supporting their work too!
