Hello from London. Hot in the city? At 35 degrees I’d say so….

A good week for a break from classes and quieter, stiller practices.

We’re back on Friday with St Mary’s class at 1pm and online yoga at 3pm. All welcome.

No yoga on Sunday this week either but the new term starts on Monday.

One more class with Cherry Burton at 6pm this evening then we are on hold for a short while whilst a group of us head to Cober Hill for our May retreat.

See you there or, if not, can you do a little something for your well-being this weekend.

I like to run. But I’ve never considered how I train. I’ve always been haphazard with it. Yesterday I did a virtual coached run with Steve Cram via couch to 5k. What a difference in one session. How wonderful it feels to have that back up and the feel of help and encouragement. Something to lift you, guide you, enable you to see what you need but also just to offer support and praise. Practice doesn’t have to be hard to be effective. But consistency and a bit of challenge? Think Crammy would like that 😊

This week we will seek out ways to assist and support ourselves in practice.

The sukha to the sithira if you recall last week ❤️☺️❤️

When did your yoga practice start extending beyond the mat?

In many ways, yoga has always pointed us here, toward connection that reaches beyond the self.

This Earth Day, a reminder that what we explore in yoga practice—like ahiṃsā (non-harming), aparigrahā (non-grasping), īśvara praṇidhāna (a sense of reverence for something larger than ourselves)—can begin to shape how we relate to the world around us: how we move through it, care for it, and live within it.

How have you experienced your yoga practice influencing how you care for the earth, in big or small ways?

A dive into Pantajali’s yoga sutras this week.

Yoga sutra 2.46 states, sthira sukham asanam: The posture for yoga meditation should be steady, stable, and comfortable. Traditionally this applies to the seated meditative pose but exploring where we can seek this balance within other aspects of practice and being.

The effort of the long dog walk yesterday brought the ease of stepping into nature, of breathing deeply and stepping into space (and away from the mobile 😊)
