This is often linked to something called the โ€œwindow of tolerance.โ€

When youโ€™re within your window, you feel calm, grounded, and able to cope.
But when stress builds, you can move outside of it โ€” into overwhelm (anxiety, panic) or shutdown (numbness, disconnection).
