Happy IBCLC Day to all my friends and colleagues and to all those who work in infant feeding support.

An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant is an allied health professional with specialist education in infant feeding.

Before sitting the exam to qualify, an IBCLC needs:

🤱1000 documented hours experience helping women breastfeed

🤱500 hrs lactation education

🤱either a HCP qualification or 14 health science qualifications

They then have to pass

🤱A 4 hour exam

Every 5 years, they have to recertify by either the exam or 75 CERPS (75 hours of continuing professional developed)

If you are struggling and not getting the support that is making a difference then do find an IBCLC
