Something I’ve learned from being both a therapist and a woman …
Strength isn’t always the version of us that looks put together, it’s far from it.
Sometimes strength is crying in the car and still showing up.
Sometimes not showing up is exactly what you need.
You might be missed — but if you’re judged for it, you’re probably in the wrong room.
Sometimes it’s setting a boundary that terrifies you.
Sometimes it’s admitting you’re not okay.
I’ve seen so many women in the therapy room believe they have to be everything for everyone, but in truth that means there is little left for themselves.
But here’s the truth: You’re allowed to break.
And you can do all of that and still be an absolute badass.
You are not here to be perfect. You can be real.
You’re not here to meet every expectation, shrink yourself,or hold everything together for everyone else.
You’re allowed to break, allowed to rest, allowed to change.
And you’re powerful.
To every woman doing the brave work of healing, growing, and becoming —
You don’t have to be unbreakable to be strong. You can also f # up along the way, I know I do.
Happy International Women’s Day to the women doing the sometimes exhausting work of being human. 💜
