On HOPELINE247, our advisers regularly speak to young people struggling with self-injury.

Self-injury, or self-harm, is when somebody intentionally causes hurt to their body. YoungMinds reports that 1 in 12 young people self-harm and 75% of young people know someone who self-harms. It’s a difficult topic to discuss, but spreading awareness about it is crucial.

We have created a leaflet which explores common questions associated with self-harm and signposts to relevant UK-based support.

This leaflet addresses themes such as:
💜 What is self-harm?
💜 What causes someone to self-harm?
💜 I am concerned about someone self-harming, what can I do?
💜 I am someone who uses self-harm – what can I do?
💜 Self-harm and su***de
💜 Myths and facts about self-harm
💜 Further support for self-harm

To learn more about this topic, download the leaflet here: https://www.papyrus-uk.org/self-harm/
